Tuesday

 Morning, everyone.
First of all, I need to give credit - that lovely drawing of Paddington and the Queen holding hands that I added yesterday was drawn by East Yorkshire artist, Eleanor Tomlinson, and I gather it has gone viral.  It's all over Facebook like a measles rash and it still makes me smile each time I see it.

Eleanor has said:
“The reaction has been so positive and lovely, it’s the best problem to have as an artist. It’s all you ever dream of, putting something out there that people take to their hearts and show their love and support for.”

Isn't that nice?

Yesterday was a dull, damp day and, although it was bright very early, now at nearly seven it is cloudy again .  However, the forecast looks promising and some sunshine would be very nice.  Fingers crossed.

My parcel arrived.  It was a little, not very expensive video camera.  I thought it might be a good one for practising and learning and it is easier to hold than the camera.  I think I've got the basics although the instructions are less than complete and I've found certain things more by luck than intent.
Not I have to start using it and seeing how it goes.  You never know - maybe one day I will have a proper YouTube channel rather than the kittle bit of closed stuff I have now.  Unlikely, but you never know!

Yesterday was another 'at home' day apart from circuits.  I did do a tidy but, right now, you'd never believe me, so that's on the list.  Also on the list is Lindsey's Groove class and, later on, a trip into town to collect my new glasses and my back up pair of hearing aids, hand over my old ones for a service and new batteries before the warrantee period runs out and go through my list of questions, issues, etc regarding the new ones I already have.
May was an expensive month, for sure!

I've done something rather silly.  Well, not exactly silly, but not something I have done for ages.  I don't like asking people for money, even for a really good cause, and even less do I like it at the moment but . . . well, I've signed up to swim 5K in July.  It doesn't have to be all at the same time (couldn't do that) and I've donated anyway but, if any of my readers would be able to donate a few pennies to Great Ormond Street, here's the Facebook Giving link.
https://www.facebook.com/donate/986648392040631/

(Fingers crossed that the link works because I'm not good with tech stuff.)

I've also started a JustGiving page in case people prefer it.

Now I have to ask how long the Nuffield pool is and work out how many lengths I need to do.

Phew - I feel tired already!

Time to stop rambling and get a move on.  Have a great day, everyone.  xx

    1. Thanks very much, Sooze. I've always admired the hospital and, as a teacher, have seen the wonderful work they do with very poorly children. It's nice to be able to support them. xx

    1. Thanks, Sharon. It's a very basic little camera and I will probably find it a bit frustrating after a while but now I've done some basic editing, I want to play. lol
It doesn't start until July so that gives me time to schedule things so it gets done. xx

    1. Thank you, Sue, that's so kind.
I just need to find out how long the lengths are in the Nuffield pool. I thing they are 25m so four length per 100m which makes things easy to work out. xx

  4. I've donated Joy. It's such a good cause and I'm sure you'll manage the 5K.

I wondered if it was going to be a new camera but didn't think of a video camera. I hope you have lots of fun with it. xx

    1. Thank yo8u so very much, Eileen. I'm sure I will manage it too - I've been doing the maths and yes, it's doable.
I am getting a new camera too but I will be taking my time and am reading up a bit. There's time. :-) xx

  6. Very best of luck with your swim (I remember the pool being smaller, and the FAQ says it's 20m)!
I look forward to seeing your film-making efforts, and I admire your tenacity in teaching yourself these skills - I too easily get frustrated and give up with these things.

    1. I looked it up and yes, it's 20m so five lengths to 100m. Not so bad. Thanks, it will be interesting to see how it all goes. xx

    2. I love your trips…in 2006; I was one of twenty teachers taken to England for Shakespeare…oh fantastic…the Globe…the Thames…Oxford…Warwick Castle…short trip to Stratford upon Avon…plays…fencing lessons…classes at the Globe…loved it alll
In 2008 I was again chosen and by then knew my way about…did The Eye which was worth it…didn’t have to wait on line…all the same except the castle and Oxford…this time two nights in a B and B in Stratford upon Avon…I don’t like doing everything with others, and we had a little free time…I ate alone one night in Pub in SUpon A and had tea alone in London…Several times…loved Anne Hathaway cottage…All the places I talked about to my students…the churches… museums…Buckingham Palace…Big Ben…government buildings…came alive
I started teaching on 1994 after grad. College in my forties…on 1996; I was one of 30 teachers chosen to study at The Folgers in Washington DC for a month…we learned how to teach Shakespeare and learned to use those strategies on other subjects…in 2001; ones of thirty chosen to study at Shakespeare and Company in Mass for a month…needless to say I-was hooked…my students became hooked…those in S Carolina and those inmy home state of WV…loved it…
My grand girl studied in Italy and Greece and was in the university at Bristol when Covid came…she was able to spend weekend WAles…one Ireland and one London before shipping home…it is in our blood I guess…I can’t travel that far anymore but England won my heart. The people…changing of the guard…the food…the scones…the plays…the Globe…I loved it…
