Good morning, one and all, and welcome to the start of a new week. A very wet start it is too with plenty of rain around and definitely no need to water the garden.
Yesterday started off wet, then dried up a bit but remained very dull and, what was worse, really chilly. I ended up wearing a winter jumper and turning the heating on for a while. Not a terribly good example of 'Flaming June' really.
I didn't do all that much, just pottered, read, caught up on Jubilee stuff and so on.
Wasn't the Party at the Palace good? Everyone seemed to be having a whale of a time, even the Royals who can be very poker faced at times. And I thought the children were extremely well behaved, even when they were obviously somewhat bored! Louis is cute!
Best of all, we now know what her Majesty keeps in her ever present handbag!
Edited later to add this, just seen on Facebook, because I love it. :-)
I forgot to mention something nice about Saturday. I had finished my shopping and queued up at the most likely looking checkout. I noticed that the checkout lady looked vaguely familiar but couldn't quite find the name. She looked at me, smiled and said 'You're Mrs Clark, aren't you?' All she needed to do was mention one of her children's names and I got it. Twenty years or so ago, I had her daughter in my year one class and that daughter was working on the self checkout so came over for a quick chat. I must say, I'd never have recognised M but her mum hasn't changed much and, so it seems, not have I!
We had a good old chat as I packed my stuff and it was lovely. I left with that 'feel-good' glow around me.
I'm feeling quite excited today as I am expecting a delivery from Amazon. I'll tell you what it is tomorrow, fingers crossed.
It is back to school day today. When I was teaching, this day was a day of either satisfaction or gloom, depending on whether I had finished the dreaded reports or not. They usually didn't have to be in for another two weeks but they were such a millstone around our necks that we wanted to get them done and in. At least there were no individual parent consultations in the summer term, because of the reports, just an open evening where everyone could wander around and look at their child/ren's new class and chat to the teacher. Usually warm and sunny and a very happy time.
I wonder whether things are back to normal again this year.
The only thing in the diary is circuit training at Lindsey's. I've missed a couple of weeks so I'll probably feel stretched and tired afterwards but it will be a good feeling.
Also, I wonder if the Jubilee Pageant will be on iPlayer today. If it is, I'll watch that - it should be fun.
What are you doing today? Have a really good day, rain or shine! xx
It's cold and wet here today but thankfully the rain held off until after all our jubilee celebrations yesterday. Thank goodness it's back to normal eating though as I don't think I can face another cake.
ReplyDeletelol - no cake round here, thank goodness. I'm glad the rain didn't spoil your celebrations. xx
DeleteAm sure the pageant is on i player . Have had the most fabulous Jubilee weekend thought the coverage of it was brilliant. Loved seeing the children .The concert was amazing particularly liked dear old Paddington and Diversity plus all the effects and drones . If you do get to see the pageant perhaps you will see what made my daughter and I giggle whilst Charles was speaking
ReplyDeleteI will look out for that!
DeleteI'm not going to watch it until after I get back from circuits. It will be a good excuse to R&R!
xx
That's a lovely image. I have enjoyed watching this weekend's celebrations. X
ReplyDeleteSo cute, isn't it? I love Paddington. xx
DeleteWe’ve had rain this weekend too. I’ve stayed I. The house and avoided it mostly.
ReplyDeleteVery sensible. Good for the garden, mind you. xx
DeleteIt's been a good weekend ... and it's good to finally find out what Her Majesty keeps in her handbags isn't it ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe've shared the same picture today, how could we not, it's brilliant isn't it.
Snap. Yes, it really is! xx
DeleteEveryone seems so excited about the Jubilee. I love that drawing that you posted. London is absolutely incredible.
ReplyDeleteIt's very sweet, that picture, isn't it? Paddington is a very popular character too.
DeleteI suppose you don't get a platinum jubilee every day of the week - it really has been something special, whatever ones views on the monarchy.
xx
I love that drawing. I am seeing it all over the internet. Makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Me too, Jackie. It's gone viral, I gather. xx
DeleteI love that drawing! I downloaded it to my computer too.
ReplyDeleteIt just has such a lovely vibe to it, doesn't it? It touches my heart. Michael Bond would have been so very proud, I think. xx
