Hi, everyone.
I had a very pleasant stroll around Hyde Hall yesterday. The sun was a bit hokey cokey but it was all good. There were enough people there to make it pleasant and have people to smile to.
I had planned to have a snack (brought with me) and a coffee at one of the eating places but it was over lunchtime, of course, and there were some queues. I'm not fond of queueing in those situations so I had the snack and then waited to have a coffee at home. Not a problem. Must remember to take a flask with me next time.
There was a lot of new growth and colour as I wandered around. Most of the grass was off limits as it is 'resting' but that was OK. It will be beautiful come the early summer - I love walking on it barefooted.

The hellebores were particularly lovely and I was planning to treat myself to one on the way out - until I saw how much they were asking! £20! I know I'm practising wild, extravagant whatever but £20!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll try B&Q instead!
However - you won't believe this, Eileen - I had to use my phone for the photos because - I forgot the camera!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was so cross with myself.
I'll just have to go again, won't I. End of February, maybe.
In the evening, I was exchanging emails with brother, John, regarding Dad's estate, etc, when the internet went down. So annoying. Fortunately, it wasn't down for long.
Today is housework! I have two friends over tomorrow (not together) and the cleaner comes on Friday so today has to be housework and getting things neat and tidy.
Also some food prep because Dave and Anna are round Friday evening. Nice.
Then, late afternoon, it's personal training.
Better go and do my Facebook adminning stuff. Have a really lovely day, one and all, and may the sun shine on us. And if it doesn't, may we feel as if it is!

I've been looking at buying a couple of hellebores and our Aldi is currently selling them at either £6.99 or £7.99, sorry can't remember which. They weren't huge but good quality so I don't know if you have an Aldi near you.

DeleteI tried to grow a hellebore dug up from Mum's garden but it didn't take. I do love them and it would be very nice to get one. I wonder if they would thrive in a decent sized pot?

ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely place. Quite big enough for a good walk around but not so huge as to be daunting. The Winter Garden is lovely at the moment, as you would expect, and the Woodland Walk is springing to life.

You had far nicer weather than we did yesterday. It drizzled all day and was thoroughly miserable. The cost of that plant made my eyes bleed. ouch.

ReplyDeleteThose flower photos are crystal clear and beautiful taken with your phone. I think the camera course you are doing has just helped you to 'get your eye in' and you can see what to take and how to take a photo so much better.
I've found my new phone has a much better camera than my last, I just have to learn how to edit them better as the settings are all different.

To be fair, I do crop most of my photos using photoshop.

Hello I recently bought some hellebores from Gardening Express online and they have a few to choose from and more reasonable than £20 a plant!

DeleteI love how you clean up for the cleaners! What a lovely walk and what a price for the hellebores - the garden centres are stocking a lot of the special hybrid ones at very high prices. I never have much luck with them after the first year - maybe it is too wet where I live and at the cottage.
ReplyDeleteTo be perfectly honest, I tidy up before the cleaners because I'd rather they did the cleaning than spend half the time moving my clutter about. :-)
