Good morning, everyone. I'm awake at stupid o'clock (aka four fifty) and it's still fairly dark outside, just starting to get light at the front. Beeb says that today and tomorrow will probably be in the 30s again but there is a chance, the first in weeks, of some rain on Monday night, through Tuesday and into Wednesday. I do hope they are right.
Yesterday was a very lazy day indeed. To be fair, it was pretty hot so staying still was sensible. There had been a walk planned, one of our intermittent SW walks through the parks in town, but we decided it wasn't sensible to hold it, even if it was brought forward. So we didn't.
People are so kind, aren't they? After I mentioned about going into Tunisian crochet in a bit more detail, Annabeth, bless her, sent me her collection of Tunisian crochet hooks, a cross between a knitting needle and a crochet hook. Thank you so much, Annabeth - I can start learning a few stitches now.
The highlight was the girls' afternoon tea. Oh, my - the table was loaded and we had the best time ever. I suspect Alex did too as Beth took plenty of leftovers home for him afterwards.
This is Beth's photo (thank you, Beth) and you get the general idea.
Sounds like you had a lovely time, Joy. Have a nice relaxing day xx
ReplyDeleteThank you. I do hope you are staying nice and cool. xx
DeleteIt looks delicious, Joy. And a fish and chip supper is a great idea. I might just 'borrow' that idea. Xx
ReplyDeletePlease do - we are so looking forward to it and it's ages since I had a fish and chip supper. xx
DeleteThat looks totally delicious Joy. The fish and chip supper sounds smashing. It's nice to eat together with friends and family isn't it.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely and I think we appreciate it so much more nowadays, having had to go without it. xx
DeleteOoh, that looks tasty, I love an afternoon tea! The not sausage rolls look tempting too. I did make some a few years ago and they were a disaster, can't remember which recipe, so I must give Delia's a try.
ReplyDeleteI think they are well worth a go. The recipe tells you how to make the pasty too but I buy it ready made. Who makes puff pastry nowadays? xx
DeleteYou,ve got me thinking about fish'n'chips now too .....mind you ...I haven't had a proper pasty for a while . Anyway , it's 80 degrees F here right now 🌞 so I think we'll be having a nice cool , crunchy crisp salad today . Have a beautiful Sunday all ! 💐
ReplyDeleteIt's over 30C here too, definitely not fish and chips weather today. Enjoy your crisp and crunchy salad. xx
DeleteThe al fresco lunch looks lovely, and sitting under a gazebo in the shade with a breeze sounds just perfect. I'm a melting puddle it's that hot, but I'm determined not to complain about it, there's far too many doing that already.
ReplyDeleteIt is shockingly hot right now. I have all the doors and windows closed, the curtain drawn and the fans on and it is keeping it manageable but I'm not moving about much at all. I gather rain is on its way and it is going to moderate anyway to normally summer warm! Bring it on!
DeleteTake care. xx
Soooo hot here again today but should ease tomorrow - the tea looks very yummy
ReplyDeleteI'm very sleepy today as too hot to sleep last night but hoping to do a little crochet later.
Alison in Wales x
Oddly, the nights have been surprisingly cool around here although it takes a while for the heat of the day to dissipate.
DeleteI hope you're able to have a sleep today and enjoy that crochet later on. xx
The table looks so good and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.
ReplyDeleteI've spent the day much the same as you with the windows and curtains closed against the heat and the fan cooling to room ... fingers are crossed for the promised rain tomorrow. We did have some big black clouds this evening but sadly they passed over very quickly without dropping any of the wet stuff! xx
It's very dull here now although the clouds are high, not rain clouds. It's also cooled off - it's 25C which is eight degrees cooler than earlier so I'm thankful. Some wet stuff tomorrow would be wonderful. xx
