Thursday

Good morning everyone and, would you believe it, we have YET another frost this morning.  How many is that singe spring started?  I reckon about 85% of mornings have started with a frost round here.  Still, the sun is shining and I'm going to enjoy it because we might have a bit more rain later on.  No complaints about the rain - we need it still.

Yesterday went pretty well, all things considered.  The journey home from Dad's was good.  It's a very pleasant cross country route and I now go through Sawbridgeworth in order to avoid Bishop's Stortford which can be a bottleneck in the centre of town.  It adds a bit to the journey in terms of distance but saves on the wear and tear of my nerves!

After a quick unpack and sort out, I was off out again, driving over to Lindsey's for personal training.  Despite now much exercise over the past week, it went pretty well and we had a jolly good catch-up and natter at the same time.

After lunch, Val turned up and we had a hot drink and a good old chat (it was definitely a day for 'good old chats' yesterday, wasn't it?) while I got on with my knitting.  We talked about all the unwanted books at Dad's -  he doesn't want them, most of which the younger generations won't want and maybe Ziffit will take some.  I need to download the app onto my phone and next time I'm there I can check some of them over.  I know some of you have used Ziffit in the past and it seems worthwhile to give it a go, if only to avoid disposing of so many books.  I know some will need to be chucked but it's worth a try anyway.

After Val had gone, I caught up on some recorded programmes and, after dinner, set to with my knitting, to join the shoulders and start the button band (although I have decided not to have buttons).  The pattern says to do it in two parts, first picking up to the centre back and doing that, then the other side before joining the short seam at the back (does that make sense?).  However, I may as well put my new circular needle to good use so I picked up all the way round (loadsa stitches and it took ages, what with doing the maths to get the stitches even, etc) and started knitting.  After about three rows I thought ' This doesn't look right, there's not enough stitches,' and realised, silly me, that I had used the numbers for the shorter version of the cardigan and I had actually made the longer version.  Small wonder there weren't enough stitches.  So it all had to come out, a whole evening's work wasted; I was too tired to start again by then so that's a task for today.

So - today.  I need to go into town early and I might just take a stroll round some of the shops if it's not too busy.  Once home, Chris and I may or may not have a chat, depending on time and weather.  Then it's the usual housework, etc, until the Slimming World Zoom meeting.

And, just remembered.  Must go and vote too!  There's been so little publicity about the candidates this year, very few leaflets through the door, it's easy to forget.

After SW, it's the most exciting thing.  You may recall I said I had an online ticked to watch the live filming of Have I Got News For You.  Well, that's tonight and I have to log on from around 19:00 onward.  I've checked and the 'ticket' (link) is in my mailbox, I have the hearing loop thingy charging up as I type, there's enough time between SW and the log on time to have my dinner and I'm really looking forward to it, HIGNFY being one of my favourite TV shows.

Well, time to start the day, I guess, or half the stuff won't get done.  Stay positive, be safe and be happy.  xx

    1. They don't always show the audience. I wish I'd had the sense to take a screen shot when we were on screen at the start, before recording started.
