Thursday

Good morning, everyone.  Again, thank you so much for the lovely comments.  It's nice to know that I was missed and I was touched by your concern for the possible reasons.

Early Monday morning, I was doing my usual social media round when the internet connection dropped.  It has been doing that a bit recently.  It came back, then dropped again.  It became clear that the problem was this end as the router lights were all over the shop and no connections were available (even if Virgin was down, other connections should have shown).  Anyway, Beth helped me contact Virgin (my hearing is not great on phones) and they arranged for a technician to come out yesterday afternoon.  I now have a new router and a V6 upgrade and all seems to be working well and a lot faster than before.

I so missed not being able to go online and it was also a nuisance as I have some of my stuff on cloud storage which, of course, I couldn't access.

Apart from that, life has plodded on as normal.

Today is another day with nothing in the diary until tuition and then Slimming World.  As always, that means a busy day - sheet changing, washing, drying and ironing and I would like to do some sewing at some point as well.

Fingers crossed for the weigh in!

  1. you have just beaten me to it, getting up, Joy! I've been awake since 5 am and am now on my first pot of coffee (I've had a cup of tea already.) Been watching News Briefing with Sally Bundock - prefer News to Breakfast, wish that News continued on the News channel while Breakfast was on BBC1, so that the two could be separated. But interesting items on the News this morning, one about the police now contacting schools before 9am to let them know if any pupils have been witness to domestic abuse. Apparently more than 45,000 children had been such witnesses in the last year, which is a dreadful figure. It was so that teachers might know the reason if a child had come without his or her homework or hadn't had breakfast. Also, the rise in children 'vaping' in the USA because of flavoured vapes. Two things which no doubt worry teachers.
I'm now thinking - do I start my next piece of writing or do I do the ironing ...(or go back to bed for an hour, ha ha!)

  2. Life can be very tough for some children (always has been) and then people wonder why they are troubled and create problems for others.

Which are you going to choose? :-)

  3. I have done the ironing, Joy, so that I can put that away and the sitting room where I do the ironing will be neat and tidy again. How lovely it would be to have a dedicated laundry room with all the things for washing, drying, ironing and storage of the bed and table linen! How domesticated I sound! But I can see tall cupboards in my mind's eye, with slats upon which sit groups of sheets and pillow cases all matching, tied with blue ribbon, so you have them ready for the beds, and napkins with table clothes, all matching, and spare bedding, and a rack for drying and the ironing board all set up, and sewing things for mending (not that I do much of that - husband is always assigned that task!) And, of course, lavender between all the linen ... we can dream, can't we?

  4. Good morning Joy - glad to see your post as normal in my reader. I am about to wash my bedding today - it is glorious here again but with that nip in the air. We may have the man from NSO calling today but have had no confirmation or more exact time - but we will be in - it is a bit of a jobs day today.

  5. I reckon rather than being lady-of-the-manor in a previous life I was housekeeper-to-lady-of-the-manor, Joy, ha ha!

  6. So relieved to hear that it was due to an IT issue rather than a family crisis ... you were missed.

I've been reading through your Frugal Factor blog and noting down some of the recipes. Fingers crossed that they make a difference as I need to kick start the weight loss again - I seem to have plateaued.

  7. <Margaret - maybe you were and you would have been a treasure, I am sure. :-)

Viv, it's very dull and a bit damp here so my washing is drying indoors today.

Eileen, thanks for reading t'other blog. I hope the recipes help you as they are helping me.

  8. Joy, I’m a new reader and missed your posts, hoping everything was fine. I’ve been retired from teaching in the US for 6 years and enjoy sewing and crocheting. I don’t post much anymore (maybe once a month). I’m glad your silence on the web was simply a tech issue. Happy Thursday! Zenda

  9. Glad you got your internet fixed! I must admit to being a little lost without it.

  10. Hi, Zenda, and welcome to my rambling thopughts and doings. I'll pop over and read your 'occasional blog'. I hope you've had a good Thursday too! :-) Thanks for commenting.

SHaron, it was very isolating. I kept thinking of things I wanted to look up and couldn't. Weird. We are so relient on technology, aren't we.
