Tuesday

Good morning, everyone.
Thank you all for your kind comments yesterday about the decorations.  Every time I walk past, the colours lift my spirits and yesterday's student said he loved it!

I managed to get a fair bit of sorting out done yesterday and a few corners look much better than they did.  In the afternoon I was at school and the Infants were having a full rehearsal (all the classes together rather than just practising their own bit) so I went along to watch and immediately took a dive back into my own recent history.
Longer term readers will remember that, as KS1 coordinator, I was responsible for the Christmas Show for several years and at this time of year my entries were filled with moans, groans and worries.  It always came together on the night and this one will.  It's lovely and the singing is fabulous!

I've been invited to the full dress rehearsal next week and then to the first full performance and am looking forward to it immensely.

After that it was tuition and, as I've said before, it is so lovely to work with a student who really cares, wants to make progress and just gobbles up what you give them.  Such a delight.

Today is a little less busy.  I need to pop to Morrisons to get a few things as I want to make our traditional vegetarian not-sausage rolls for the freezer.  It is a Delia recipe and we, the family, absolutely adore them.  I'll probably make them tomorrow.  Beth's round so the sewing machines will be out and we will be busy.
Then a bit of tuition finishes off the day nicely.

It sounds lovely, doesn't it?  Here's to a good day for us all.

  1. Good morning Joy. Reading this I quickly thought how I missed my reception class nativity and then I remembered the tears and tantrums - and that was just the staff🤣
A quiet day for me, I can not get out today but I shall spend it wrapping gifts and making cards. So, looking on the bright side, I am lucky to be in the warm, doing something creative. 😊 Have a good day.

  2. Ah yes. It's that time of year. Lily's nativity rehearsals begin tomorrow. I also have a sneaking suspicion I will be roped in to help out too. X

  3. It is one of the things I missed as my two girls left primary school - I loved the nativity plays at Christmas. I remember being an Angel when I was only 6 - had to stand on a bench at the back (maybe too elf and safety these days) then to my mum's surprise I suddenly disappeared - I had fainted with the excitement!

  4. I'm chuckling as I read your comments, ladies. I have to admit, I really loved doing the Chrismas show, even if I was guilty of a bit of micro-management, and it's one of the things I miss doing now. Little MJiss Bossy Boots, that was me!

(and I must correct some typos - why is it one never sees ones own errors?)

  5. How lovely is that - that your student (when I was at school, a student was someone at college, not at school ... when has 'school child' vanished from our vocabulary to be replaced by 'student', but I suppose though, it is correct, i.e. one who studied?) liked your Christmas arrangement.
Our little grandson is in his class's Nativity play and he's No 5 Sheep. This amuses us, and he has some lines to say which he's learning, and runs around his house, like a seasoned luvvie, "Where are my lines ..." Oh, aren't they funny at five and a half!

  7. I think going to those Christmas-y things is one of the things I miss about my children being small. I miss the excitement of the season. Yes, there was lots of craziness, but seeing the children so excited was wonderful.

  9. Totally wonderful, I agree. And the children always rose magnificently to the occasion, didn't they, even if they were bursting with excitement?

  10. Husband and I might go to the performance, but both of us suffer from arthritis and sitting on tiny hard chairs for up to 2 hours is sometimes more than we can cope with. But it would be lovely to see him in his little play.
