Morning, everyone. Another new week starts and what a contrast with last Monday. It's quite breezy but the temperature, according to my garden thermometer, is around 10C, which is lovely and spring like. The daffodils are opening and there are bursts of yellow all over. So happy!
I spent a lovely time yesterday doing a slight reorganisation of my storage jars (and contents) yesterday morning. When I did the big sort out last year, I knew things would need to be changed around somewhat in time and so it was. I bought a few more jars last week and now some things are higher, some are lower, some are in a different place entirely and everything is nicely and consistently labelled. All very, very satisfying.
While that was going on, there was washing in the washing machine and a small gammon joint in the slow cooker.
Once the gammon was cooked to almost melt in the mouth (lovely!), I used the stock and some of the yellow split peas I had forgotten I had, even after last year's reorganisation and made a lovely, thick ham and pea soup in Thermione. That'll see me through about three lunches.
The washing all got dried but not ironed so that's today's task.
After lunch, I watched a Harry Potter film and some YouTube, finished another dishcloth (one more to go), finished the washing and did some reading - just a nice, quiet, productive time.
Today, I will see if I can get the ironing done this morning before I go off for circuits and I do need to walk down to Morrisons to pick up my prescription (should've done that last week really) and I need to grab a bag of carrots too. I still have plenty of everything else but am pretty much out of carrots and I use them so much. This afternoon, I have an online meeting that shouldn't go on too long at all and then the rest of the day is mine to enjoy.
Has it warmed up where you are? Hopefully, Spring can now have its way and soon we can pack away the winter coats and get down the lighter weight stuff again! Won't that be lovely!
Much milder here but very windy and we still don't have much in the way of spring flowers.
ReplyDeleteThe wind has picked up here too and the clouds have rolled over. It's looking very much like rain now. xx
DeleteThe temperature here for the next few weeks really is up and down like a yoyo, no consistency at all. Enjoy your ironing! xx
ReplyDeleteI guess that's pretty normal for March, really.
DeleteI quite like a bit of ironing . . . weird, I know. xx
Good morning - the sun is shining here too. It looks rather breezy so as long as it's not 'cold' I shall enjoy my walk this morning. It's fabulous to see some blue sky and spring flowers as it makes us all feel so much better and inclined to get out and into the garden!
ReplyDeleteSuze x
That sounds lovely and much nicer than here now. Maybe it will cheer up again in a while. xx
DeleteBit more than breezy here at the moment - very blowy. I want to get some seeds into the propagator today.
ReplyDeleteHave a good one
You too. How lovely to be sowing seeds. Enjoy! xx
DeleteDH has taken to doing the ironing here since I had my bad back last year - he seems to enjoy doing it and not stopped now I can do it myself again - I think like me he uses it has his 'thinking and problem solving time' - problem is I don't get that time for myself anymore unless I get to the ironing pile first! I might even loan him out occasionally!
ReplyDeleteHe sounds like a keeper to me!! I can just imagine you fighting over who does the ironing!! xx
DeleteI too love a ham and split pea soup. I usually add a bit of maple syrup to mine and use green split peas. Must get it on the menu plan again soon!
ReplyDeleteThe sun (when it comes out) will shine here in Canada but that's often a sign it is bitterly cold!!!
Maple syrup? That sounds interesting.
DeleteThe soup was lovely and I have a couple more portions for other times.
I hope it wasn't too cold. xx
It has been very windy here this morning with a good dose of rain. I'm hoping it will clear up this afternoon. I really enjoyed reading the answers to the questions yesterday. Poor Gizmo. I did a similar thing a little while ago with an oven glove which was just resting on the edge of the hob and it caught fire. Enjoy the rest of your day x
ReplyDeleteIt really was very windy here through today. My black bin kept wandering off on its own!!
DeleteIt was a shame about Gizmo, for sure, but Gizmo II arrived a day early so it's waffles for breakfast again tomorrow. Yay!
I'm glad you enjoyed the answers - thanks for reading.
xx
We have windy conditions here but it's milder for sure.
ReplyDeleteThe soup sounds lovely - can't beat a bit of pea and ham soup.
Alison in Wales x
It was delicious - ham stock does make a tasty base for a soup, definitely.

Cold but sunny here in frigid Canada. We are getting more snow this weekend which is not a big deal as we are already buried in the stuff. The first flowers will be in May sometime I hope.
ReplyDeleteCanada seems to be having quite a severe late winter - or is that usual? It must look lovely for a while but I imagine one could get tired of it after a while.

Sunny here but the wind is picking up in my small corner of the Canadian prairies. Just hoping this continues and we don't get anymore blizzards, we are tired of digging out.
ReplyDeleteI love ham and pea soup.
God bless.
I could be flippant and mutter something about 'great exercise opportunities' but I won't because I think I'd feel just the same. Snow can be such heavy work.
DeleteFingers crossed for no more blizzards for you. xx
Sounds like you got a lot accomplished!
ReplyDeleteI do like a good sort out now and again and the results are so very satisfying! xx
DeleteOur weather has been so erratic these past few days, nice on Sunday, torrential rain ALL night and then through the day on Monday and now snow, sleet and rain all day today. But, I have been super lucky with the dog walks while Alan has been away and the rain etc has stopped for long enough for us to do a quick loop of the canal each time.
ReplyDeleteThat was very lucky. April should see more settled weather - only two weeks until then. Nice. xx
