Monday

Morning, everyone.  The first morning of my sixty tens and although it is too early for the sun, it looks promising.  Thank you so much again for all your lovely birthday wishes - so kind.

Yesterday was a very pleasant day.  A nice, relaxing, quiet morning and a lovely afternoon tea with Beth, Alex, Dave and Anna.  The food was great and I felt great wearing my new Seasalt dress and a necklace and bracelet that Beth and Alex gave me.  I meant to ask the waitress to take a family photo but forgot, silly me.  Oh, well, only ten years till the next one.  lol

I did take a few photos.

Little Channels is a converted barn with add ons and this is one end of it.

I started off with a campari and tonic, my top fave drink.
The food . . .
. . . and the other side.

There was another one too with more and Beth's vegetarian options on one side.

It was all delicious and so fresh.

This was all I could manage of the cakes.  Dave and Alex took what was left home in boxes Channels provided.  And yes, that is prosecco - and it was lovely!

The others had tea; I had coffee.  Very nice.

And now it's all back to normal for two weeks and then it is Al's birthday.

So, today is circuits and after school it's tuition.   Before then, I have a pile of washing and the related ironing and the kitchen could do with a bit of a clear out. Only two sessions left so I'm closing things down, finishing off and doing small scale things.

And sensible eating!!  I have to plan that for the next few days or it won't happen!

Have a lovely day; I hope everything goes well and that are happy and content.  xx

  2. The venue and the the food both look so good and I'm glad you had a good time.

Is that two more sessions after today's? It's the end of an era for you isn't it. It took me quite a while to come to terms with no longer teaching but now I have no regrets about stopping. I hope it works out well for you. xx

    1. Two including today. May bank holiday is the last one. It will feel odd but the big break was when I retired from full time class teaching, I think. This is minor and I've been pulling out of it gradually since Covid struck and put paid to the sessions for quite a while.
I've found that even the one session has felt a bit limiting at times so I think I am ready to stop.

We had a lovely time, thanks. xx

    1. < grin > That's true! It was brilliant, anyway! Afternoon tea is very civilised and to think it used to be a common occurrence. Maybe not as lavish but the idea was there. xx

  6. What a wonderfull way to celebrate your special birthday with an afternoon tea. Sending lots of happy birthday wishes to you. I have an 'O' birthday next year and was thinking of something similar but in our church hall. Just something simple.
Have a great week and hope the sun shines on you gently all week xx

    1. It's very cute, isn't it. I'd love one but can't see myself getting the use from it. I haven't had a cream tea for the longest time and that scone was so huge, it defeated me. Maybe I should have had just half!

  9. I am glad you had a lovely day with your family. The little picnic tables are cute and perfect for serving the delights you had. I haven't had a "tea" like that since I lived in England 40+ years ago. Belated happy birthday wishes to you.

    1. 'Delights' is exactly the right word'. It was just lovely.
Maybe I ought to bring back the tradition occasionally - I do have some very pretty china that I rarely use.
      Thank you, Marjorie. xx

    1. Ooops, I've only just seen this. Many thanks, Sue. Yes, the tables were delightful and if I was a regular afternoon tea sort of girl, I'd probably get one. But I'm not so I won't. xx
