Sunday

Hi, everyone.  Day two of Lazy Weekend and things are great!  Yes, it's jolly cold again but that's OK.  Yesterday, the frost/ice didn't go all day, despite some cheerful sunshine, but I gather it is going to be getting a little warmer over the coming week.

I've finished the first round of tea bags which was a Twelve Days thing.

I've liked them all apart from the chamomile one which I didn't take to.  I didn't actively dislike it, I just didn't like it much.  I don't think I will bother with any more - maybe Beth likes chamomile tea; I'll ask her.
I'll start the second round today.
I might also have the second speciality coffee with breakfast.  Ooooh - indulgent day today!

I think I've sorted out the hexagon thing.  It really just wasn't a terribly carefully thought out pattern.  I now have several options for the way I do the increasing and decreasing so I'm do some one way and some another.  After all, it is supposed to be patchwork.  Definitely a good way to use up leftover yarn.  It doesn't take much to make on so I am going to rootle in the small ball basket and see what I have there.
The main aim is to keep my fingers occupied and it's certainly doing that!

Today is not as empty as yesterday as this afternoon I'm going round to Beth's for coffee and a good old support buddy chat.  I'm looking forward to hearing all about her first week's work - as much as she can tell me anyway, although there must be a lot of confidentiality there so she can't say everything.

This morning I am finishing off a higher cupboard in the kitchen.  I've been putting it off because it involves going up and down a step ladder but it's about time really!  It should keep me warm anyway!

Have a great day, everyone, whatever your plans are.  Please - stay warm and be safe.  xx

  1. My sister in law bought me the Pukka tea advent last year but unfortunately a lot of the teas included lemon and unless I know it is fresh real lemon I have an intolerance to lemon oil and flavourings etc(I get bad migraines) so have to avoid some food and drinks. However not to waste the ones I couldn't use I pop one or two into birthday cards and letters for the recipient to try. Enjoy your day with Beth - I seem to have missed the fact she has a job - is she still doing her lovely sewing? xxx

    1. I'm afraid not. Kitty Stitches closed early last year and Beth's been searching for work since then. She started last Tuesday.
I like the idea of popping them into cards. A shame you can't have them but a great way to make the best of them.

  2. Well done doing your kitchen cupboards something we need to do, but when the doors are shut and we can't see inside, we keep putting it off!

  3. Hello! I don't get along with chamomile tea either - or peppermint. Aren't we funny creatures! I have done a few kitchen cupboards out and the sense of achievement is great but annoying when you can't tell from the outside! I'm going to go do a little bit of stitching - mostly repairs then might have a bash at something lovely! Not sure what!

    1. Now I like the peppermint one quite a lot. I'm looking forward to reading about the 'something lovely'. :-)

  4. I'm not a fan of chamomile tea either. I hope Beth will enjoy them.
I think I've got one more morning of my Winter Blend coffee to look forward to, then I'll be back to using my regular blend. X

  5. I like chamomile tea, it's relaxing. It does have a strong taste, though. That tea set looks very festive. I made some sage tea the other day with some of the fresh herb in my garden. It was nice with honey. I put a mug of it in my bath water, as well. Very relaxing...

    1. It's a nice set, isn't it - a bit Advent Calendar-ish in a way with nine boxes that you pull out.
I love making a mint infusion ion the summer, when the mint is fresh and delicious. I just have it plain but I bet it would be nice with honey.

  7. Enjoy your chat with Beth! I must admit that I am not much of a tea drinker (shock horror). I loved it when I was younger and when I was about 13 I caught Glandular Fever. Since then I haven't been able to drink it. I do enjoy a nice cup a soup (which I pay a fortune for over here)

    1. I haven't been either. I don't know what's come over me, to be honest. I felt I was drinking too much coffee and, in winter, one does appreciate a nice hot drink.
Marmite dissolved in boiling water is nice (if you like marmite), as is Marigold vegetable stock powder. Nice and umami!
