Tuesday

Good morning, everyone.  After a cold, dry and sunny day yesterday, it's not so cold this morning - no frost, although there's fairly thick cloud so maybe that's why no frost!  No snow here - we hardly ever get snow worth getting excited about.

As expected, yesterday was a quiet, pottery sort of day.  Bit of housework, bit of clearing up, bit of cooking, etc, plenty of sitting and reading or watching telly.

I expect today to be the same, pretty much, with a chat with Dad in the afternoon to brighten things up.

I haven't mentioned so far, but I'm doing a sort of 'Twelve Days of Christmas' with myself.  A bit like an Advent calendar but the other way round!  The first day was Christmas Day so the gift was a reasonably biggie one but since then they're been little.  I got them ages ago and had pretty much forgotten what each little parcel contained so they come as half a surprise each day.
The first, the bigger one, was some of my favourite perfume, then a bar of soap, followed by a miniature port, yesterday was a tube of hand cream and today's is a sudoku puzzle book.  I remember I tried to get things that I could use straight away, one way or another.  I think I will continue this next year as it's really rather nice to have a little treat each year.

Have you had snow?  If so, fingers crossed it isn't causing you too many problems.  xx

  1. There was horrible fog here yesterday after a sunny start, Today is grey again.
No snow although I've been remembering the snow of 2018 in early March when next door neighbours moved in and their furniture was stuck in a truck at the bottom of a hill. Hope that doesn't happen this year!

    1. Goodness, yes indeed, me too. I remember that too - my heating went on the blink. Oh, it as so, so cold!

  2. I love your Twelve days of Christmas idea Joy. I'm adopting that one for next year. I can buy little things right through the year and if I wrap them straight away I will forget what is in each parcel. We have a nice covering of snow, a little more than a dusting but nothing to write home about.

    1. I've pretty much forgotten in a shorter time than a year. The thing I did just before Christmas was to randomly label them with a number from one (Christmas Day and the only one I actually knew) to twelve. Sue and Eileen are doing something similar. A case of 'great minds'
Make sure you keep some festive wrapping paper somewhere convenient!
A dusting of snow is perfect - all the prettiness without any of the inconvenience.

  3. What a wonderful twelve days of Christmas celebration! Don't think I'd have the patience to do it for myself but I did buy empty crackers and filled them myself, at least everybody had chocolate and something useful and non-plastic. The jokes were surprisingly good too!

    1. That's a very good idea. Much, much better than bought ones unless you pay the earth!

  4. I'm glad you're enjoying your Twelve Days of Christmas gifts. My gift to myself today is an escape room type puzzle in an envelope which I will try to solve this afternoon.

  5. I think this is a brilliant idea and I've been following Sue as she unwraps her little pressies each day. I might do this for for myself next year as I find the days after Christmas are usually a bit depressing and dismal and a little gift, especially after a year of rationing, might be just what I need to lift me as I reach the finishing line.

Even on the hills opposite us the snow is gradually disappearing, it's just so damp and drear here at the moment.

    1. I'm enjoying it so much. It might sound daft and rather self indulgent, but it lifts my spirits each morning.

  7. We had snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. It was so cold here that it hung around for three days, which is highly unusual for here.

  8. I love your twelve days of Christmas idea. It can often feel a bit flat after Christmas Day itself, so it must be exciting to have a little treat to look forward to each morning. X

    1. It is, yes. I have today's, still wrapped, in front of me as I type because it's a happy feeling. Definitely one to do again.
