Friday

Today's garden happy - courgette flowers are so striking (apologies for the poor light)!

Good morning, everyone.  It's a bit early to see what the weather will be like but the clouds are high so fingers crossed.  Certainly, we haven't had any rain overnight as far as one can tell.

Thank you for the help identifying the flower - bacopa it is and it is perennial which is great.  If I am careful, the bacopa, the pelargonium and the fuchsia should survive from year to year and I just need to infill with a few bedding plants.

Yesterday worked out fine.  I turned up for my swim just before ten so, as the aqua folk got out, I got in and the pool wasn't at all busy.  I did 0.7k and was satisfied with that.  It's the first of July today so the challenge officially starts although some people have already finished and I'm nearly half way through.  The spirit of the challenge is to do 5k in one month, after all.
If you would like to support Great Ormond Street Hospital for children, I will leave both links at the foot of this post, one to the Facebook giving page and the other to Just Giving.  And thank you so much to those who have already donated.

I did a bit of shopping but only for sensible things such as pan scourers, etc.

I now have my replacement aids and so far so good.  No unexpected channel hopping although it will take a few days to judge if they are holding their charge for a reasonable time.  He also sorted out the new Bluetooth connection with my phone.  I don't need to go back again unless there are more problems.

Then I had a look around the clothes in John Lewis.  I'm really looking for a classic style beige or cream blazer type thing but there was very little in that line; it was mostly frilly summer dresses.  Never mind, it was fun looking around.
Then I went to M&S but, again, bought sensible things - some fruit and some instant coffee as I am nearly out.

In the evening, I picked up the eggs - ten lovely, fresh, laid in the last couple of days eggs of varying sizes, one of which is massive.  Poor little hen, that's all I can say.  Eye watering!

Today starts with Slimming World, then I'm home to get the house tidy for the cleaners (why am I so good at creating a mess?) and then this afternoon I am off to Lindsey's for my personal training, postponed from Wednesday.  And that's another day done and dusted!

Have a great Friday and be happy.

    1. Aw, thanks so much, Sooze. I'm enjoying the swimming right now very much, as well as the other stuff. Hopefully it will stop my old joints seizing up as quickly as they might otherwise do. One can hope anyway! xx

  3. Oh that Courgette flower is beautiful. I'm afraid my plant decided to dry up and die, so for the first time in perhaps a decade I am facing the Summer courgette-less. Well I can buy them, thank goodness and they do get super cheap at this time of year. I have planted my winter leeks in the new space I have since uprooted my desiccated specimen.
Hope you have a good weekend ... it's the 1st July and to quote Alan 'we are on our way to Christmas' !!

    1. Oh, no. That's so disappointing. Mind you - winter leeks - very nice indeed.
Alan can - go wash his mouth out. I have a summer to enjoy first! September is early enough to think about Christmas! :-)

  4. I haven't had much luck keeping the bacopa over winter so tend to treat it as an annual now. It's a very pretty little plant though so I hope you have more luck than I do.

I hope SW has gone well today and that PT goes well. I'm really enjoying my own attempts at PT ... I think I've been lucky enough to find the right trainer for me on my first try. xx

    1. Thanks for the warning. I won't be too disappointed then. It is extremely pretty.
SW was great and so was personal training, thanks. I had a fab time. I'm really glad you and your trainer have gelled - it really helps if there a rapport there. xx

  5. Swimming, exercising and walking, you'll be truly fit! Reading your blog makes me feel positively unfit and a bit of a lazy person!

    1. < chuckle > No, don't. Each to their own and what suits one isn't right for another. I have to admit, it is nice to feel fit though. xx

  6. I love swimming laps for exercise and it is so very good on my joints. Ten eggs is great! I loved it when we had chickens, they were so much fun. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    1. I'm finding that too, Brenda. Quite a lot of my aches are now much easier. Also my arms are much stronger - which is why I am finding I can plank now and I really couldn't before, I think.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too. xx

  7. I'd be interested to know how to figure out the distance in my little pool but I'm sure I'm not swimming anywhere close to half a km. Well done, you!

    1. Thanks, Chris. Slow and steady is my style really. Does anyone come to maintain your pool? Would they have some idea, if you asked them?
