Friday

Morning, everyone.  Winter has definitely returned as Mother Nature plays an April Fool on us all.  It's turned biting cold again and, after the tiny bit of snow we had yesterday, it's snowing again now.  Just a tiny but but I can just imagine the excitement in homes around here as the kids plan snowmen and snowballing at playtime on the last day of term.  What a shame they will be disappointed.  The forecast is for some lovely sunshine but cold and back below zero tonight.  Brrrrr . . .

Friday went as expected.  After a really nice chat with Chris and some breakfast, I set off for Greenwoods and had a thoroughly satisfying time.  Two good swims, two relaxes in the jacuzzi, time in the sauna and a good long reading time on a lounger.  Some of the time the place was totally empty (apart from me).  I pitched my tent along the long side so here's a photo through the window to the outside area, empty because it was flippin' cold!

When I got home, I showered, washed my hair properly, etc, and then got into my bed things which felt highly decadent for just late afternoon.

And we had snow yesterday too.  OK, we had one rather pretty and very short snow shower of the 'blink and you might miss it' variety but more than we've had all winter.

See what I mean . . .

The chat/executors' meeting with John went well.  We sorted out a number of things connected with the estate and, really, it's just a question of letting things work through the system, we think.  While it would be nice to have everything done and dusted, there's no rush.

And the evening finished off with me being pinged.  It told me I'd been in contact with someone with Covid on the 26th - FIVE days ago!!  How efficient.
It was Beth, of course - but five days . . . how many people could I have infected in five days, had I caught it but been asymptomatic?

Today starts with Slimming World And Alex has asked me to get a few more things (he remains well but is not going out and about right now) and then there's nothing in the diary so I might go back to Greenwoods and have another swim after dinner.  It is so nice to be feeling more energetic again.  Before then, though, I have a house to tidy up before the lovely cleaner arrives, bless her.

I think today is going to be really pleasant, despite the cold, and I hope your Friday is too.   Stay warm.  xx

  1. I wish I was joining you at Greenwoods, it sounds lovely and relaxing.
We don't have any snow here, sadly. I'm a little bit envious of those who do :)

    1. I might not go now, I'll see how I feel later. I'm extremely weary again this morning.
It's all gone here. We had a couple of showers earlier but nothing to count.

  2. Greenwoods sounds lovely but what is this tent that you mention.. or is it just a turn of phrase? Snow is pretty for about five minutes and then it's a ruddy nuisance. It's just cold wet and slushy.

    1. Turn of phrase! :-)
Well, there's none here now, it was hardly enough to show and has melted. I saw you YouTube clip - that was heavy snow! xx

  3. Sounds as though you're enjoying your swimming, I belonged to Greenwoods in Billericay and used to go straight after school, which was fine, if I didn't go then I didn't want to go out again in the cold! SW was ok for me this morning half pound loss which wasn't expected! Keep safe.

    1. I do like a gentle swim although I'm no speed merchant. I just go slowly up and down, up and down, and very satisfying it is too!

Well done with the loss, that's brilliant.

  4. It sounds like you had a lovely time at Greenwoods ... a much better experience than the swimming pool you were using, I'm sure.

I didn't realise Track and Trace were still pinging people. It's never been a good system but five days delay in notifying you is just ridiculous. No wonder the numbers are continuing to rise.

Good luck at SW this morning xx

    1. It was really pleasant and relaxing (between swims, of course).

Nor did I but they obviously are. Alex said he got pinged very quickly but, of course, they share the same address. For all they knew, it was just a casual and unknown contact somewhere. But even so - five days? ridiculous!

  5. The NHS website says the Track and Trace system ended on 24th February. I know lots of people who have recently been contacted and the link in the message encourages responders to pay for PCR test....so a scam.Hope that helps!

    1. It came through my NHS app on my phone and nothing that encouraged PCR tests so I don't think it was a scam. How strange. xx

  7. We got snow today too! I think somebody is laughing at us. I know what you mean about finishing up the estates. We've got both Mum and Jane's in the works. I know it won't 'end' things but there will be a little bit more about moving on to the next stage of grieving and letting go. Sometimes it feels like we are in limbo especially with Jane as I am in the middle of sorting through the things.

    1. It's emotionally very draining, isn't it? Yes, it is a moving on and, when completed, I'm hoping for a sense of closure but there are so many things I miss (as I know you understand).
Thanks, Sharon, and love to you.
