Good morning. It's a but misty outside at the moment but there's no frost as far as I can tell.
I had a very pleasant surprise yesterday. A message from the Premium Bonds people telling me I had won another £25 this month. Beth has a bit invested in my account so she, too, was pleased.
After Slimming World and the arrival of some packages for Beth, I took them round to hers and we had a little chat. She's much better now, thank you, so Christmas Tree day is still on. This morning is the same as any Saturday morning but she and Alex are due to turn up at around two-ish, we will put up and decorate the tree and then settle down to DVDs and a buffet.
I did have a bit of a panic yesterday when I couldn't find the wooden nativity set but, thankfully, it turned up after a search. It is now out and looking as lovely as it ever does.
As it is Christmas Tree day today, I HAVE to have this for my Christmas music. O Tannenbaum.
Two clips - the first is what I consider a rather sickly version from Andre Rieu - I mean a sickly setting. His concerts are really not my thing but there is no denying he is a fine musician (says she, grudgingly)
The second is my sort of music - an a capella version from VOCES8 (never heard of them before but they're good).
Good morning, Joy! Thank you, as always, for the delightful music and congratulations on your win.ReplyDelete
I'm glad Beth is feeling better now and you can enjoy Christmas Tree day together. X
Thank you. It was a very pleasant surprise!Delete
I'm looking forward to this afternoon. xx
Have a lovely day, Joy, I shall think of you whilst I'm doing my own tree today.ReplyDelete
I must confess I do like Andre Rieu's concerts....yes a bit cheesy, but he does get the audience engaged and they do love him. xx
I agree with all of that - It's just not my cuppa at all. I like cheese where it belongs - on the cheeseboard and in my tum. Lol.Delete
Have a lovely day! xx
Have fun doing your tree .ReplyDelete
Really nasty day here weather wise so a perfect day for staying in.
Oh, poor you. It is gorgeously sunny here. Please don't send any over, OK? :-)Delete
Throwing it down here today - good job we did the outside jobs yesterday. Have good fun decorating your tree. xReplyDelete
I think we've hit it lucky round here. I love sunshine, even if it does show up my mucky windows!Delete
Congratulations on your premium bond win. That's the sort of surprises you want!ReplyDelete
I quite like André Rieu's concerts. We 'discovered' them when Ced was first poorly and they filled the gap left by being unable to go out socially. I think they were just the right level of schmaltz for us at a difficult time and I now occasionally watch a concert, a reminder of happy times.
I do like the VOCES8 sound. Thanks for the introduction to them.
And I forgot to say that I hope the three of you have a great time decorating the tree xxDelete
I know a lot of people love them - my Dad did, very much. I'm s glad they were right for you and Ced and helped - that definitely improves them in my eyes. xxxDelete
And thank you. I am sure we will. xxDelete
What a lovely way to start my day, thanks for the music.ReplyDelete
What a gorgeous nativity set!!!
Thanks, Jackie. I'm glad you like it.Delete
Big Andre Rieu fans here Joy and not really a fan of A capella but we are all different and that's what makes the world go around. Have a lovely time decorating your tree with the young folk. xReplyDelete
< grin > Indeed we are. Truly, I think he is a fine musician, I just don't g0o for the fancy trappings!Delete
I've always loved vocal harmony. Yes, we are all different and that's one of the things that makes the world such an interesting place.
Your wooden nativity scene is delightful Joy. Such lovely carvings.ReplyDelete
Congratulations on that Premium Bonds win for both you and Beth. Hope the tree decorating goes well x
Thank you. I do love it very much indeed and so does Beth - she has laid claim to it in the future. :-)Delete
Hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Tree Day, Joy. Hope you post a picture of your beautiful tree!ReplyDelete
I will, Debbie, thank you. xxDelete
Wow congrats! Have fun putting up the tree!ReplyDelete
Every little helps, as they say. Thank you.Delete
We have had a lovely time, thanks.
