Saturday: Advent day four

Good morning. It's a but misty outside at the moment but there's no frost as far as I can tell.

I had a very pleasant surprise yesterday.  A message from the Premium Bonds people telling me I had won another £25 this month.  Beth has a bit invested in my account so she, too, was pleased.

After Slimming World and the arrival of some packages for Beth, I took them round to hers and we had a little chat.  She's much better now, thank you, so Christmas Tree day is still on.  This morning is the same as any Saturday morning but she and Alex are due to turn up at around two-ish, we will put up and decorate the tree and then settle down to DVDs and a buffet.

I did have a bit of a panic yesterday when I couldn't find the wooden nativity set but, thankfully, it turned up after a search.  It is now out and looking as lovely as it ever does.

As it is Christmas Tree day today, I HAVE to have this for my Christmas music.  O Tannenbaum.

Two clips - the first is what I consider a rather sickly version from Andre Rieu - I mean a sickly setting.  His concerts are really not my thing but there is no denying he is a fine musician (says she, grudgingly)

The second is my sort of music - an a capella version from VOCES8 (never heard of them before but they're good).

  2. Have a lovely day, Joy, I shall think of you whilst I'm doing my own tree today.

I must confess I do like Andre Rieu's concerts....yes a bit cheesy, but he does get the audience engaged and they do love him. xx

    1. I agree with all of that - It's just not my cuppa at all. I like cheese where it belongs - on the cheeseboard and in my tum. Lol.
      Have a lovely day! xx

  5. Congratulations on your premium bond win. That's the sort of surprises you want!

I quite like André Rieu's concerts. We 'discovered' them when Ced was first poorly and they filled the gap left by being unable to go out socially. I think they were just the right level of schmaltz for us at a difficult time and I now occasionally watch a concert, a reminder of happy times.

I do like the VOCES8 sound. Thanks for the introduction to them.

  7. Big Andre Rieu fans here Joy and not really a fan of A capella but we are all different and that's what makes the world go around. Have a lovely time decorating your tree with the young folk. x

I've always loved vocal harmony. Yes, we are all different and that's one of the things that makes the world such an interesting place.
