Monday

Good morning!  The sun is shining and there is no frost which is nice.  Hopefully it will stay that way as the sun is very cheering.

Yesterday was a simpler day but there was plenty to do.  I cleared my head with a walk to Morrisons and back, getting the things I needed for feeding family with a nice, big cottage pie this evening.  I cooked the mince in the slow cooker because I like it that way and made it a bit spicy with some cajun spice.  It all now sitting in the fridge, ready for transporting to Dad's in due course.  I did what felt like loads of washing (where does it all come from) and have a stack of ironing to do this morning.

I did a bit of clearing and tidying and loadsa washing up so there's not too much in the kitchen to get done today.

Well, better get going .  For a start, I need some coffee!
Have a lovely day.
xx

    1. It made the houswe smell great while the mince was cooking yesterday. One of many reasons for loving the slow cooker function on my Instant Pot.

  3. It was sunny but cold yesterday for us - the car registered 7 degrees until we got up to Yarm (north Yorkshire)and then it said 9 degrees. For some reason it is always that bit warmer even the trees and plants are that much further on than where we live here by the Pennines. x

  4. I’ve never thought about doing mince in the slow cooker. How long do you cook it for please? Also is the Cajun spice one of your own mixes or did you buy it?

  5. It was one I found on the Internet and realised I had all the individual components. I'll see if I can find it again.
I gave my savoury mince around four hours, I guess, more or less, after the initial saute-ing.

  7. I didn't know you could use an instant pot as a slow cooker also. Do you get a lot of use from your instant pot? I'm still on the fence about buying one.

    1. It's multi-functional. I know everyone goes on about the pressure cooker part but I've used mine more for the slow cooker function and the yogurt function. It sautes too and steams (things like Christmas pudding).
I do use mine quite a lot for larger amounts; it's not much use for single portion stuff, but if you like batch cooking, it is great.
I can't know whether it would suit you, of course, but I can say I'm really glad I bought one.

  8. Thinking of you all and hoping that everything goes smoothly.
I loved your comment about Alex's speech. I¡m sure that gentle and careful nurturing and support throughout his life has had a lot to do with how he is now.
