Tuesday

Good morning, everyone.  It's the same old, isn't it?  Back in lockdown.  I am so pleased that the support bubble thingy hasn't been discarded; it has meant a lot to me one way and another, to be able to socialise face to face with someone

Apart from that, the biggie yesterday was the extraction.  I was so worried because the tooth was in a bad way, not a lot to get hold of, so to speak, but Francesca was so gentle, numbed me up the the eyeballs, explained everything and, despite a bad attach of the shakes on my part, it wasn't as bad as it could have been.  Even if I wasn't planning for another implant, I wanted that stump out.  It hurt intermittently, food got stuck in it, I'm sure it tainted my breath and it was too far gone for anything else.  By half five the numbness had worn off and it was fine - with ibuprofen, obviously.  Taking no risks for twenty four hours.  And I have slept very well too.

The rest of the day was spent doing bits and bobs.  I put some more salt in the water softener, ordered more bags of salt from B&Q, to be delivered, changed my bedding, washed, dried and ironed them, sorted out another freezer bag and dealt with the Christmas cake which is proving far too much of a temptation.

It's now in three chunks.  I took one chunk round to Dave and Anna and the other two are well wrapped and awaiting some boxes from Amazon so I can post one chunk to John and one chunk to Dad.

Today I have a chat with Dad lined up but other than that the diary is empty so I will fill it with sorting and tidying and getting more things back into order.  It's a biggie for Beth though - it's the first day of her new job so my fingers are very, very crossed.   She had to drive to Maldon today to pick up her technology and get some training in how to use it and she is allowed to go because she cannot do her job otherwise.  After today, she should be working and undertaking training from home.

It's not a very good photo, but I found this in the little front garden strip and it cheered me up no end.  It may seem far off but it's a sign of brighter things to come.  Loads of bulbs are also coming up.

Same here. It's so chilly too. Very unpleasant.

  2. I'm glad everything went well with your extraction. Today will be a waiting game for me, to find out what will be happening at school. Until then I need to keep myself busy. X

Hope you get some clarification quickly.

    1. Oh, me too, so grateful. I suppose I would have coped as a teacher but I'm so glad (in a thankful way) that I don't have to. Another plus for retirement.

  5. I'm so glad the dentist visit wasn't too bad, you're nearly finished now hopefully.

There are daffodil bulbs all coming up along the riverside walk, masses of them with just the leaves at the moment, but I did spot one early one about to open up with the yellow all showing. Signs of hope, just when we need them most.

    1. Well - it's the last big dental issue (fingers crossed) but will take some time because of the healing time in between appointments. I was really nervous about the extraction but not so much about the rest not I've done it once.
How lovely to actually have daffs emerging.

  6. I'm glad the dentist visit went well and the tooth has gone. If you're have an implant I assume that means more appointments which I hope won't be affected by the lockdown.

I hope Beth enjoys her new job.

    1. Yes, it does and it looks as if they haven't stopped dental visits as I was sent the next appt this morning. I'm glad - it's pretty much as safe as you can get in our dental surgery and it's something they really should keep going.
She sent me a text to say she'd got there and had parked - always a bit of a concern in a strange place. I guess I'll hear the rest later on.

  7. Started isolating in March...wasn't in my car until August...then went to get air in tires. Family delivered groceries outside. In September things seemed better, so I went every other week to a small Dollar General and the produce man nearby. Met family outside to see them...Things started getting worse, so I started ordering groceries and picking them up at the store outside. Can't see family esp since the gatherings at the holidays have worsened the cases of Covid. Am praying for a vaccine to be available for all of us seniors...I will be moving to the south to be near family there-sharing Nana and Mom with both families. I teach every day-my grandsons on Facetime...one granddaughter here...two other children-in other states...I stay busy even though I am isolated...Prayers for you and your family. I read your blog first every day and enjoy it. This will get better. I have faith in that.

    1. I agree with you, we have to have that hope that it won't always be like this, don't we?
I'm glad you are pleasantly occupied, even in isolations. Keep smiling . . . xx

  9. That little flower bloom is so pretty! It will be awhile before we see such blooms here in the states. Glad the dental work went well. You have been through so much with the dentist this past year. My husband had a year like that with an implant and I understand it is not fun. Hope today is a pleasant day for you!

  11. You are so lucky to have things coming up in your garden. We won't see anything until March at the earliest and more likely April! I usually buy some pansies to put on my front porch in March just to cheer me up. They are a bit hardier than most plants.

    1. Pansies are delightful, aren't they? I'm looking forward to seeing the first snowdrops - it shouldn't be very long.
