Good morning, everyone. No rain here yet. How about you? A good downfall to soak the ground would be so welcome but it's probably holding off until schools break up for the year. Then it will rain, just wait and see!
It is with great pleasure that I announce the good news . . . the new potatoes are ready for digging up! This is what two plants yielded yesterday plus the courgettes. We had some of both for dinner last night and they were so delicious!
. . .while at home, I have one, single, solitary runner bean but where once goes, others won't be far behind.
Back at the allotment, the corn continues to grow cms each day, the mange tout has flowers at last and so do the runners which are later than the garden ones.
Now all we need is a decent load of rain!
Have a lovely day, whatever you plan to do.
I laughed, as your bean plant looks just like mine. One is ready for picking but the rest are way off. I am envious of your potato crop. Maybe they are something I should try to grow next year.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day. X
There is nothing quite like homegrown produce the taste is spectacular
ReplyDeleteThe taste of homegrown, freshly dug, early potatoes with a smear of butter and a sprinkling of chives - heaven!
ReplyDeleteIt is obviously not been the weather for beans!
ReplyDeleteLove your little collection of produce - I can almost taste how good it is just from the photo.
We have had rain - I was out in my garden dead heading and didn't rush inside as it felt lovely to stand out in it for a while. It then became quite heavy and some of the leggier plants are now horizontal again after just recovering from the day of wind a while ago and then the extreme heat!
Jules: Dad's are the same! We both predict that we will be picking by next weekend and then there will be no stopping them! The potatoes are Charlottes and are just lovely. More tonight!
ReplyDeleteDiane: I totally agree. The freshness and the texture are unbeatable. Tonight we're having broad beans and I know they will be wonderful too.
Annabeth: Mmmmmmmmmmm - I love mint with mine too.
Viv: Beans do like a lot of water so maybe that's it, but they're going to be lovely when they really get going.
No rain here although it's clouding over. The clouds are too high for rain though.
xx
Even though we have not had rain, you have some produce! That's to be admired! Savour that single bean, ha ha, treat it to a lovely sauce and serve it with chilled wine!
ReplyDeleteMargaret P
What a splendid idea, Margaret! I love it! xx
ReplyDelete...it must be absolutely wonderful to eat and enjoy your own home-grown produce - incredibly satisfying too.
ReplyDeleteIt all looks so lovely!
We have had no rain here for many weeks and the grass verges look burned and brown - I worry about the trees, too.
Have a lovely day!
Love, S. xxx
We water our little trees. It may sound daft but they are not dropping their leaves or their fruit so maybe it is helping. A good downpour would be better.
ReplyDeleteThey'll be OK longer term anyway, it's just this year's produce we want to keep.
Lovely to hear from you S. Lots of love to you. J xxx
Can you believe it - my husband accidentally bought French beans instead of runner beans. So we're now waiting on a bean that we are less keen on!
ReplyDeleteOh, no! Not the best of surprises.
ReplyDeleteFrench beans are OK but not a patch on runners, I think.
Mind you, it is not too late to plant more in order to get an autumn crop which should go on until there's a frost. It might be worth giving it a go.
I'm planting more around the allotment this week in hopes and my dad always does the same.
