Yesterday was a lovely day. Groove was great fun - new block, new playlist, new sequences and they were great.
Then I took the bus into town and met up with Beth outside John Lewis. We spent ages browsing round the Jo Malone section (Beth and I are both devoted fans) before Beth spent a small fortune on fragrances and I - despite what I said last week about waiting until the New Year - bought the other perfume I wanted. However, it's not all that bad. Ernie (Premium Bonds gave the the cost of almost all of it and I have decided to wrap it up and pop it in one of the Twelve Nights bags. Deferred gratification is what it's called, I think.
Unfortunately, they popped in a couple of samples and one is really lovely. It's called cypress and grapefruit and wow! Definitely not for now but in the New Year - maybe?
Then we went for lunch to Mowgli which, if you don't know it, is an Indian street food sort of place.
Beth had a birthday voucher from a friend and I paid the rest so it all worked out really well.
I popped into various shops on the way back to the bus stop and really enjoyed looking at the Festive earrings but I have more than enough (it's a bit of a self limiting things and wait until you see my daily Advent Calendar) so no temptation there, thankfully.
Today is a mostly homey day but with a real treat in the evening.
Lindsey has moved my personal graining session to tomorrow because late afternoon I will be on the Broomfield coach into London, heading for St Paul's to the Sir John Rutter's Birthday Celebration - he is eighty today, I gather. Looking at the seating plan, it is an absolute sellout - I can only see three spare seats in the whole place - and I have no idea where our seats are so fingers are crossed.
Some of the bumph says:
Join the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for a concert celebrating one of the UK’s most accomplished living composers and icon of choral music, conducted by the man himself, Sir John Rutter.

I love his Christmas music - several of them appear in my Advent Calendar here each year (which I am certainly doing again through December this year) and they are so very singable.
I'm so excited.
I'm so excited.
Before then I have various homey bits and bobs to get done and dusted (literally) so I'd better stop waffling and get the day started.
Have a good one, everybody, and stay warm and safe. xx

I went to one of Sir John Rutter's Christmas concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. It was amazing, especially when he conducted the audience in the song he'd marked for them to sing. I'm sure you'll enjoy the birthday celebration. And I may be feeling rather envious! Enjoy yourself. xx
ReplyDeleteOh, how lovely. He is an amazing person, isn't he? I feel very lucky to be going. xx
