It feels warmer than it ought to feel and I realise that I didn't put the clock back on the thermostat. It's on the List! Also, I'm warm and snuggly in my pjs, oodie and fluffy slipper boots so all's well in my little world.
I had the nicest time going round a few shops yesterday. I did B&M, Lidl, Aldi, M&S and Lathcoats, all of which are out-of-town-centre places and came back with five bags of stuff - but nothing really bad. The biggest was Anna's birthday present - it's bad luck, I think, to have your birthday at Christmas so I always make sure she gets birthday recognition as well as something for Christmas.
Apart from that, I got some gifts, some foody bits, some festive coffee pods (an indulgence, I know, but I do love my coffee), some decorative bits and some nice, fluffy, warm socks for wearing around the house or (avert your eyes if you are of a sensitive disposition) in bed . . . 😄
I have a tendency to cold feet so they should help a lot.

It took me a while to sort everything out, wrap things that needed wrapping and generally sort things out.
The Teams meeting later on was actually really interesting and I learnt a lot.
On to today: Thursday is coffee and chat with Chris day and then I'm off to Lindsey's for my PT session which she moved from yesterday because of the meeting.
Then, I think I will write my shopping list and go to Morrisons to get it done rather than tomorrow as usual. Alex is round for another cooking session tomorrow and, if I have what I need, I can prep some of it before he arrives. We're trying something out for Christmas.
I've just checked my bank so I can update my spreadsheet and it looks like the winter fuel payment has arrived. I gather that, if it has to go back, it will be taken in dribs and drabs via monthly tax rather than a demand for a lump sum but I will move it across into savings anyway so it doesn't just 'vanish'.
Have a really good day, everyone. I hope the weather isn't too unpleasant for you and that you can be warm and cosy. See you tomorrow! xx
Bedtime is accompanied by a hot water bottle all week.
ReplyDeleteYes, so important to celebrate a Christmas birthday seperately. My SIL was also a Christmas birthday girl and we always made a point starting the celebrations with her birthday bubbly and birthday presents.
One of our friends had his birthday on the 23rd and it rankled with him all his life that as a boy he often was given a present that 'would do for Birthday and Christmas'. xx
It's definitely been hot water bottle/electric blanket (maybe not together!!) weather this week.
DeleteI'm glad your SiL was able to celebrate her birthday separately. Quite a busy do for everyone, I am sure! xx
I often spend the morning in my cosy dressing gown in this weather but have had to put the heating on the last few mornings. It’s our monthly u3a meeting today and we are collecting donations for the local food bank.I’ll need to be very careful walking down to the hall where we meet as it is still frosty outside. Enjoy your coffee and chat. Catriona
ReplyDeleteIt's really important to layer up, isn't it. And to think of others less fortunate. xx
DeleteMy youngest daughter's birthday is four days after Christmas. When she was little, we celebrated her birthday in the summer. As she grew older, we made a point of making sure she had a 'proper' birthday.
ReplyDeleteYou had fun yesterday - it's a satisfying feeling to have a good wander.
Good idea. A friend's daughter had a festive birthday and they did something similar. A really good way of managing it. xx
DeleteA good mooch around the shops at this time of year can be very pleasant and it sounds lovely.
ReplyDeleteMy eldest sister has a Christmas birthday, I do try to remember to send her something separate, but this year , sadly , no gifting, but I'll make her a special card.
Alison in Devon x
I had a very pleasant time, thanks.
DeleteTo be honest, a special, hand made card is better that ten presents, I think. So good for you! xx
I, too, wear socks to bed as otherwise my feet are like blocks of ice! Except for in the summer, of course.
ReplyDeleteIt makes such a difference to how you feel all over, doesn't it. Warm feet are very important. xx
DeleteMy birthday is 4 days after Christmas as well. Mom always made me a small party. Kurt and Kris make the mistake of putting my Birthday gifts in Christmas paper, but as they usually leave before my special day I open them on Christmas day.
ReplyDeleteI don't wear socks to bed, but I put on my furry slippers as soon as I get up.
God bless.
You have to, don't you. Sometimes it is the only way.
DeleteI wear slippers too (not in bed). As I type this, I don't have my slippers on and my toes are getting a bit chilly. Hang on . . . aaaahhh, that's better. xx
Although I have a tendency to cold feet, I just can't get comfortable if I'm wearing socks in bed. Putting a hot water bottle in the space where my feet go before I get into bed helps a bit though.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it does - often the old ways are the most effective. Mine are those very light, fluffy (molto cheapo) socks that only appear just before Christmas as stocking filler gifts! Something like a fiver for four pairs from B&M, I think! xx
DeleteIn the cold weather I find a cosy pair of socks does help me to drift off to sleep better.
ReplyDeleteExactly that! Not elegant but then no-one else sees!! xx
