Monday

Hi again, everyone.  New week, same old!!

Thanks very much for your comments.  I think that when I say I have been lazy or idle, I mean I am doing things I want to do/enjoy doing rather than things I should be doing but am putting off - if that makes sense.
Somehow, things that are enjoyable never seem like work!

I left home to go to Sainsbury's yesterday at 9:45 to get there pretty much as it opened and didn't get home until nearly 12:00.  It was packed.
In that time I had the best nosey round the shop (haven't been for ages), filled up with petrol and spent a ridiculous amount, none of which I regretted one little bit.
Sainsbury's had their Christmas range of clothes in so I had fun looking round, although I still think it's all a bit dull and dreary.  You couldn't say that for other areas of the shop - Christmas has landed good and proper.  I managed to get some Christmas gifts as well as stuff I was getting short of, I found a nice little bit of gammon for over Christmas and treated myself to a steak that was outrageously priced but there you go!  It's eaten now and was lovely!

Come the afternoon, I wrapped the gifts, sorted out the shopping, finished Lindsey's loaf and then enjoyed a knitting/crochet fest through some YouTube channels, Strictly results and the Game of Wool.

No spoilers but I was sad but not surprised to see the person leave.  It wont be long before the really good ones start dropping and it will be a case of 'who has had a bad show' rather than 'who is the weakest dancer'.
And there really are some good ones.

If you asked what I thought of Game of Wool, I would say . . . I don't really know.
I enjoyed it - anything to do with yarn is going to be enjoyable for me.  I didn't quite know what to expect and maybe the 'Sewing Bee' type of format needs to be modified somewhat in future series.  And I do hope it isn't chunky yarn and huge needles every week for the sake of speed.  Watching them made my hands ache!
I hope to see different yarn things coming up - crochet, weaving, maybe . . .??
And some teaching - I'd have loved a mini tutorial on how to weave yarn at the back in Fair Isle correctly.  Thirty seconds would have done it.
However, it was fun, it was colourful, I learned a few things, I loved the hand 'knits' everyone was wearing (including a hexi-cardigan that looked very like the one I made) and I think it will bring knitting into the modern era - which some people won't like, of course.
And it is new - it has to bed down and make its own way.  Give it time.

Did you watch it?  What did you think?

Today the new block starts and I am off to Circuits first thing.
Then, being Monday, it is housework day so I can safely say I won't feel lazy!  I am so glad I live now and not 100/150 years ago when housework really was unending, unrelenting, sunrise to sunset hard work.
Count your blessings, Joy, count your blessings.

And with that I will love you and leave you and start getting ready for Circuits.  See you tomorrow.  xx

  1. Game of Wool left me speechless and certainly not wanting more! I think a very competent knitter went home despite the fact the woman’s tank top couldn’t be worn because the neck was too tight. The host’s outfit was an insult to kilt wearers the world over unless it was supposed to be a toga in which case dead Romans will be spinning in their graves! I wonder if the host will manage to get his top off most weeks as he seems to like to show off his vest! Will watch one more week before I decide if it’s worth watching the rest. Glad you bought and ate the steak-life really is too short to deny yourself a treat. Catriona

    1. Chuckle - I can't argue with any of that but I do think it will bed down in time - these shows are always a bit uncertain to start with. xx

  2. I liked it but I wish they would change the format,it seems harsh for someone to leave so soon. It made me sad when the chap said he didn't knit in public after the nasty woman told him to do jigsaws. All in all, a welcome programme and I adore Tom Daley. Carole R.

    1. I've felt like that about all these knock out shows. The only one that doesn't is Strictly and I do like that everyone has at least two weeks in the show. xx

  3. No I didn't watch the Game of Wool, it's not my thing at all sadly. But there are obviously going to be lots of people that will watch and will enjoy it and learn from it, so hopefully it will get better for you as it progresses.

  4. I didn't watch it , we are Traitors addicts and always watch both Strictly shows, then there is Hunted , Race across the World, 007 , and Bake Off........😀
OH indulges my fondness for the above so I'll give him a break by giving The knitting program a miss 😂
Nice hearing yours and others views on it.
PS I'm finally sewing up the jumper I started last year !

    1. You could record it - or it will be on channel 4 streaming, I am sure. Maybe for any sleepless nights!

And well done . . . just in time for winter. xx

  5. I am hoping we get that Yarn show here in Canada at some point. I really wish we still got The Great Sewing Bee as well. One of these days I am going to make a search and see if I can find it.

    God bless.
