There's been a slight and unidentifiable whiff in the air inside for some days. I'd sniffed, checked for forgotten food, etc, but nothing.
Yesterday I did all my washing and when I looked in the downstairs basket where I put tea towels, cloths and so on, I found the source of that smell. Nothing 'nasty', they were just really pongy. I gave them a hot wash and that sorted it. Now everywhere smells nice again
In fact I got four lots done although, to be fair, one was a short one just for my gardening gloves, two pairs, that were pretty grubby.
So now I have a right pile of ironing and putting away to do. That's the morning task after circuits.

OK, better get the day rolling. Have a good day, everyone. Take care and see you tomorrow. xx
Gone are the days when we would boil wash whites regularly, environmentally we are encouraged not to. But back then we never had the pongy problem either.

Yes. I used to boil tea towels, etc, when I had a twin tub. Now I do a 60 now and again and, very occasionally a 90 but that's heavy on electricity. The pong has totally gone now, thank goodness. You think I'd learn by now, wouldn't you? :-) xx
DeleteGlad you managed to identify the pong and that you now have a sweet smelling home again. 😊
ReplyDeleteMe too! It really wasn't pleasant. :-) xx
DeleteHow well i remember a line full of boil washed snow white nappies. I'm not sure my washing machine goes above 60 degrees. I'll have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, those nappies. I took great pride in the nappies (I was going to say 'my nappies' but that just sounds wrong!). Between boiling and nappy soaking solution, they didn't stand a chance.
DeleteMine does but just for a few programs. It's at least fifteen years old by now, so maybe modern ones don't.
xx
Glad that you found the source of the odor, and managed to get rid of it so simply and quickly.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I really should have realised what it was quicker but never mind, it's OK now. Thanks, Jackie. xx
