A quick update. Ian is still in hospital - they are making sure things are properly as they should be before he goes home. Quite right too.
I don't think I am giving anything away as Stephanie has talked about this in her YouTube vlog.

Thanks for all your advice in yesterday's comments. I have decided that the squares are going to be edged in either dark red or dark green, as is the border, which means I will stitch them together rather than joining as I go - which actually makes it easier because I can make the lot and then decide on the arrangement. The sparkle will be in the pictures and, perhaps, in the basic grannies but I will knock up a few today to see how it all looks before deciding that.
The background to all the picture squares will be white.

And that, my friends, is that. I must have bored you to tears with my Advent ramblings so I will shut up about it for a few months now.
Sadly, for the first time in weeks, I have both cucumber and tomatoes on my shopping list. I'm very sad about that. However, as you can see in the collage, there's loads of baby runner beans and this wet weather suits them. On Sunday, I will pick as many as I possibly can and get them into the freezer and, hopefully, there won't be too many tough ones when I get back from Elveden.
Apart from a bit of housework and a loaf to bake, I seem to have an easy day today. It should be personal training but Lindsey is unwell and I have told her to rest and catch up on her sleep. Also, I really don't want to catch anything right now. She has classes on YouTube so I can do one of them instead.
Well, time to stop rambling and start the day. I need to check the loaf and, probably, get the oven heated and I have some colourways to decide about! :-)
Stay dry, people, and have a lovely, cosy day. See you tomorrow. xx

I know that feeling when the home produce runs out and you have to buy from supermarkets again.
ReplyDeleteSo much rain here the last few days but as you say it is needed.

It's a shame, isn't it, and the flavour difference is considerable but that's the way of the world! :-)
DeleteYes, we still need the rain. xx
We had lots of rain yesterday, as well. We needed it as we haven't had much rain lately. Sounds like your garden has really produced well this summer. Take care and enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteIt's been good, thanks, Debbie. And the things that are still frowning are really flourishing with the rain we have had. It looked really lush today but it won't be long before a good Autumn tidy up is needed. xx
DeleteYour produce puts my few courgettes to shame. I started them far too late and now the rain has put paid to anymore growth. The annuals I grew (also late) were doing well but the rain has completely dashed them too. Still we need the rain up here the reservoirs were quite low and we have been on a hosepipe ban for months now. x
ReplyDeleteThat makes things very difficult. One thing I really disliked about the allotment was that we were not allowed to use hoses. Watering cans only. Of course, some didn't comply but generally people did. The crops did suffer too.
DeleteSuch a shame about the courgettes - plants can be so very fussy about when and where . . .
xx
That's funny! I had to buy green beans today but am still picking tomatoes and cucumbers. My freezer is jammed with tomato sauce, it's been a bumper crop!
ReplyDeleteIt's been OK here but I wouldn't call it bumper - I've known better. I did pick some tomatoes yesterday but I think blight is lurking on the fringes now and the skins are tough, causing splitting.
DeleteMy fingers are crossed for the runners producing as they are promising. It depends on the temperature, I think. xx
Our beans are done and dusted, today we got the carrots finished. However there are still tomatoes, green peppers and eggplant to pick.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
They my have started later, but you've done well this year, well done. xx
