Monday

Good morning, everyone.  Welcome to my blog at the start of another week.  The heating is and it's a bit chilly outside as I found when I took a couple of things out to the freezer.  We had some rain yesterday but I had a day in so no worries.  I was a bit gutted at missing Lindsey's Pop Up Shop which was yesterday but I wasn't going to breathe germs over everyone and anyway, didn't feel up to it.  I've just let her know I won't be at circuits this morning either.

I did a few things though.  I finished off the sourdough loaf but won't be able to got it to Lindsey until Wednesday now so I have sliced it and I will freeze it for her.  I also finished some pinto beans that had been soaking and they are also now in the freezer too.

The virus/cold/whatever it is hangs around, as they do.  It's OK, just not that pleasant, you know.  There's not a lot I HAVE to do apart from getting things ready for Wednesday when Matt starts the boiler stuff.  All he needs is for me to clear the airing cupboard and the space around the boiler so if today I can sort out the spare room and get the towels, etc, in there, tomorrow I can do the kitchen and it won't take too long, however I feel!

Anyway - I hope everyone is good and has a pleasant week ahead of you.  Take care, stay safe and see you tomorrow.  xx

  1. Poor you, on the other hand, get your autumn/winter cold over with early and hopefully it won't return any time soon. Good luck wih the boiler installation.
I'm off to Rye for a couple of days, not particularly to look at Rye as such but visiting various nature reserves on the way, Rye Harbour and Dungeness. Such a shame they closed the Visitor Centre is Dungeness though. Had a great day at Brownsea Island yesterday, after a misty, rainy start during the coach trip it turned out to be a lovely, sunny day. Great birding day, there were a 100+ spoonbills and the real bonus was a juvenile white tailed eagle flying over us and afterwards it was accompanied by an adult, very high up though. All the water birds flew up in a panic as the eagle approached from a long distance away, only the little egrets weren't bothered at all. Quite a spectacle!!

  2. You’ll find a difference with your new boiler, Joy. Our new one fitted in March has really improved the speed of the heating and Norrie can control it with his phone/ipad if needed. Hope there’s not too much mess. Catriona

  3. It really has been chilly this past week or so, with lovely clear nights. My heating has been clicking on every morning by itself so I always know when the temperature has plummeted.

I hope you're soon feeling better, but it's a good idea to find things to potter with at home, as long as you don't forget to rest too.

    1. Yes, mornings have been cold. When I wake up (around five), I turn the blanket on for a bit of quick (and cheap) warmth.
And thanks. I'm OK, just a bit tight chested now. :-) xx

  5. Sorry you're not feeling well. I hope it's just a cold. My sister just got over a nasty bout of Covid and several people around her have had it too. Take care and feel better soon

    1. I don't think it is covid although how can you tell now. I don't have any tests and don't see the point if I don't have to. I'm keeping away from others and staying in which is what anyone can do really.
I'm so sorry your sister has been so poorly - is she recovered now? xx
