I know I said no post today but I really had to come on to say how very well Alex did yesterday.
I had made a batch of dough beforehand which I had split into four and into four bowls to rise.
When Alex arrived, we watched several videos showing how to shape the base and then set to. He shaped one and I shaped one, both of which we part baked.
Then we watched a video showing how to shape a stuffed crust base and he decided to make one that could be warmed up for dinner. And wow.
And the house smelled amazing.
The fourth ball of dough just made another flat base - they are now in Beth and Alex's freezer for future meals.
I messaged him in the evening and he said it tasted absolutely great.
Next time we're going to make a curry sauce to which could be added cooked meat (for him) or something like chickpeas (for Beth).
And then - the sky's the limit - a full roast dinner come the autumn.

What a star!!!

Looks like he definitely takes after his Grandma, it'll be gardening next ... xx
ReplyDeleteLOL - Somehow, I am not so sure. xx
DeleteLife skills are so important, Joy. You are doing a wonderful job of enabling Alex to feed himself and his Mum too. Isn’t it satisfying when you see a younger person learning good basic skills. Catriona

DeleteWell done to Alex. His cooking skills have really expanded over the last few weeks with your support. It is lovely to see the special relationship you have together, where you can pass on your skills and knowledge and you can share together.
ReplyDeleteHe is coming on, I think. It's fun helping him to develop some kitchen skills, bless him. xx
