Morning, everyone! How are you all? It was getting hot yesterday afternoon so look out for the rest of the week.
First of all, I left you with a question yesterday. My cucumber teenager measured 13.5 cms and I asked how much it would grow in 24 hours.
I have just measured it and it's now 16.67 cms so it has grown 3.2 cms in 24 hours. Wow! Well done to My Piece of Earth who said 3 cms. Very close.
This surprised me - I didn't think it would be quite so much. It's starting to fill out a bit too so I will definitely be eating home grown cucumber next week, I should say.
While on the subject, I had the first two ripe tomatoes (yellow, Tumbling Tom) in a salad yesterday - lovely! That's it for a while although several are looking ready to start ripening.
I'm getting quite a nice collection of fridge magnets now. I do need to rearrange them at some point but they'll do for now. My next couple of visits are to Brighton and to Rye. Hope St Swithun is kind and it doesn't rain!
Yesterday ended up not quite as busy as planned. Circuits was brilliant, Sharon worked her usual magic and now I feel presentable again, the governors meeting was very good, wide ranging, positive . . . however, poor Lindsey turned all giddy in a class later in the morning and asked if I would change my session. She could do Friday but Alex is over for his next cookery session so we decided to just roll it over this week.
I did get her bread baked though and popped it over. The warm weather helped to speed things up and I made three baguettes. Veronica, I sliced along as you suggested. The tops ended up a bit ragged but lovely and rustic looking and the rise was good so thanks very much for your help.
Today looks much gentler. I have the usual chat and coffee with Chris at hers this week and in the afternoon I have Groove but I'm doing it from home online today, mainly because it's going to be hot and at home I can have the fans blowing.
Also, I need to contact Alex and ask if he has anything he wants to make this week. If not, I much have a look and see what we can make.
And I need to ask Beth if/when she wants bread, etc.
I don't have to be out for a class this morning so I'm having an easier start to the day but there are still things to do - when are there not - to I will stop rambling and get on. Have a great day, take care, stay safe and see you tomorrow. xx
I used to have lots of fridge magnets back in Wales but then I moved and had a tiny fridge so I had a good sort out. Now the few that I have left are actually stuck to the front of the combi-boiler ... SMEG doors do not have a metal outer layer, so they don't stick.
ReplyDeleteYou will have cucumbers coming out of your ears soon, or lots of lovely jars of Bread and Butter pickles stashed away for Autumn use.
Can't wait - but I will have to. I love giving some away too - maybe next week I will have one for the hamper at SW group. That would be lovely! xx
DeleteThe weather has heated up here too and the garden will need some water later. Enjoy your time with Alex tomorrow and look forward to seeing what you cook. Catriona
ReplyDeleteI found plenty of likely looking recipes and popped them into his folder on Cookidoo. I fancy making some of them myself too. xx
DeleteI have fridge magnets from most of the places I have visited, it's nice to look at them as I pass them and remember all the wonderful trips I have been fortunate to take.
ReplyDeleteYes - I find that too. They are a fun and inexpensive way to remember. xx
DeleteI have just a few fridge magnets now. When the children were younger I had many more.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I have really just started collecting them regularly - every trip, anyway. It's nice to look at them although they do need a bit of a tidy up and will get it when I wash the fridge door. xx
DeleteIt's been so hot here. Yuck. I can't wait until we have some cooler days and nights!
ReplyDeleteMy poor fridge is covered in magnets. I really need to sort through them.
< chuckle > I guess they get a bit addictive after a while.
DeleteI keep my fan blowing in the bedroom overnight. Another advantage of hearing aids is that when they are out, any fan noise simply doesn't register. xx
We have fridge magnets from our travels too. We have some from the UK and some from further afield. All hold happy memories for us.
ReplyDeleteHopefully St Swithins day will be dry and warm this year. It certainly looks that way from the forecast.
Yes, they do prompt some lovely memories, don't they. A pleasant way to remember. xx
