29-12-25 and the Fourth Day of Christmas

Morning, everyone.  Welcome to Monday and I hope you had a lovely weekend.  It's turned quite a bit colder here, cold enough for me to get out my lovely electric fleece - much more economical than turning up the heating and twice as effective!

On the Fourth Day of Christmas
I gave unto myself . . .

two smelly soaps
one reed diffuser
warm, fluffy socks
and a Jamie Oliver book

The soaps are the floral fragrances I love so much - English rose and lavender.  Good timing too as I always use bar soap in bath and shower and I was nearly out.

I didn't do a lot yesterday; this virus isn't leaving easily at all which is a right nuisance.
I did get to Beth's with the loaf and stayed for a coffee and quick chat.

And I did start sorting out the yarn.  This pile is going into colour sorted containers and the only remaining yarn downstairs will be what I am using for the maple leaf blanket which is going nicely.

Today is housework day, of course.  I will do it in dribs and drabs through the day so by the end of the day it will all be done.  To be fair, apart from some tidying up (including that yarn), it really isn't so bad.

I think I need a Little List so . . .
housework
yarn away
break up jigsaw puzzle
put away decorations on dresser
maybe sort out and list contents of a couple of freezer bags

That'll do!
Are you a Twelfth Nighter like me or do you like to get everything away again after Boxing Day?

Have a lovely day, everyone.  Stay warm and keep well.  See you tomorrow.  xx

    1. That is such a lovely thing to say, thank you.
Yes, I do get down about things but I tend to keep that to myself mostly, with maybe just a hint now and again. It works better for me . . . xx

  2. I only had my crib figures out on the table, no other decorations, so not much to do. My two cats have decided to lay amongth them and in doing so have scattered them around the table so it has not looked too much like a Nativity scene! I didn't hang the cards up but kept them on the table too and they have been knocked to the floor by the cats! The rest of the house is as per normal and Christmas basically passed me by, which is ok. Have a lovely day Joy and take it easy. Rachel x

    1. Looking at my clutter, your way sounds wonderful! lol I'm not a cat person but my daughter is and I know cats get everywhere - they own all the space and anything else is only there because they allow it to be. :-) xx

  3. I agree with Jan, you defiantly live up to your name Joy! Joyful to read your blog in the mornings with a cup of coffee. It’s like sitting at the kitchen table and having a chat. Thank you. June xx

  4. I feel is if I am having a chat with you, Joy, each morning when I read your blog. Just back from shopping but couldn’t get everything needed for the week . Days are too short so I think the restocking hasn’t been done yet. Catriona

There have been gaps on the shelves for a long time now, haven't there? I haven't been shopping since Boxing Day - I have so much in!! xx

  5. Good morning Joy! I actually packed away a lot of the big Christmas decorations the day after Christmas this year. However, I have what I call "Winter Decor" which is now on display along with one little tree that still has multi-color lights on it which I love and hate to part with after Christmas. On these dreary winter days the lights just make the house so much more cheerful. We had a lovely Christmas and hope you did too! I need to go back and catch up on your posts so am a bit behind.

  6. I normally leave decorations up until twelfth night although I am already annoyed by them this year (tree takes up a lot of room and the door wreath is looking tired and past its best) so I may only last until 1st Jan this year. I love your 12 days of Christmas gifts to yourself! So far I have treated myself to a new phone cover, new trainers and a sports t-shirt - although they were not planned in advance they've still given me a lift! Melanie

    1. Why not treat ourselves (if we can) - we deserve it!
I didn't go to a wreath course this December - As you say, I found it lost it's freshness rather quickly. A case for a fake one, maybe, providing it is used year after year after year! xx

  7. As I was reading your treats for today I was singing 12 days of Christmas song lol.
Sorry you're still not feeling the best. Husband has had it a while now too. It's getting him down I think .

  8. I'm more in the twelfth night group than reaching for the decorations boxes before the end of the old year. This year I put up a lovely garland of fake greenery around our french doors with some simple white lights and I am going to keep that up for a lot longer. It feels like Winter decorating so I think that is allowed.

    1. Absolutely, definitely allowed. Such a lovely idea.
I'm starting to feel sad that the remaining decorations will be going soon. I love the warmth and cheer that they all bring. xx
