Thursday

Morning, all.

First of all - bloomin' delicious - thanks for the suggestions.

I was going over my finances for this month so far and feeling slightly smug when ding, ding, two messages popped into my email, both from Ray of Broomfield coaches, both asking for final payments.
One was for the John Rutter at St Paul's concert nearer to Christmas.
The other was one I had totally forgotten about, a trip to the Houses of Parliament which includes, I think, a guided tour and interesting stuff about history and so on and so forth.  Thankfully, there is no clash with anything else.
The finances have taken a hit but I can move cash from my Jolly Holidays account, if necessary, and now I DO have something more to look forward to this month.  Isn't that nice?

It was hot in the morning but by the afternoon - this was a bit of a surprise and I am so glad I didn't have any washing on the line.

(terrible recording.  I just grabbed the camera and clicked - and my feet got very wet!!)
So doing the housework was very comfortable rather than nasty and sweaty and I then got on with some crochet with a clear conscience.

It's humid this morning.  You know when there's that slight feeling of damp where your clothes touch you and you can feel it when you breathe in - that!   BBC tells me that it might go up to 27C today and 29C tomorrow so that nice - perhaps.

I have Matt the Plumber round to service the boiler first thing this morning and I have remembered to turn off the boiler.  Then, being Thursday, Chris is round and Tracy next door is joining us too which will be nice.  The rest of the day is mine to do with as I wish.  The garden does need some attention so we will see.

Take care, everyone, stay safe and be good but maybe not too good.  See you!  xx

  1. Oh what a lovely downpour, I just stand watching and thanking the heavens that I won't have to water the garden for a few days when that happens. 😀

    1. I'll have to water the pots but I could hear the beds sending up a sigh of relief! :-) xx

  2. Thanks so much for info on beans and tomatoes Joy. Your photos and advice makes me really want to do this. I’m glad you mentioned grow bags because many years ago I did try to grow runner beans in one…it was a dismal failure that I thought was my fault, so onwards and upwards 🙂 June x

    1. My Dad told me that, to keep on fruiting, runner beans need depth of soil. I tried them once in a pot and they were a dismal failure.
Definitely not our 'fault' as such, just trying to grow them in the wrong place. xx

  3. Fresh produce - yum! I would give anything for a good downpour. We are horribly dry here and the grass is quite dead. Enjoy your upcoming hot days.

    1. It seems to be a problem on a lot of places - it's all very dry at the moment. xx

  4. My goodness that was quite the rain. Dry here after some good rains which soaked in readily. We could use some more. I watered the plants yesterday and Harvey is watering the veggie garden today. My plants will get watered again tomorrow.

    God bless.

    1. I guess it's what we take on with a garden - that watering can be a pain but absolutely necessary.
Hopefully you (and Chris - above) will get some more soon. xx

  5. Food looks really yummy
That humidity is what we've been dealing with here a lot of this summer. I hate it. The air always feels so thick and hard to breathe. I'm hoping the weather over there cools down a bit as I need a break from the heat and I'm coming over tomorrow lol

    1. I think humidity is what makes it so very hard. It's where the Mediterranean countries win. They have heat but it is dry heat.
If there's no answer, come round the back! lol xx

  6. Wow, that was a good soaking! Could do with some here too.
You'll enjoy the Houses of Parliament, really interesting tour, I did think the House of Lords felt rather stuffy and a bit airless. Would you believe I also hit my knee quite badly on the Mace when we walked round the table in the House of Commons, I just didn't see it resting on the clamps at the shorter end of the table! Still, no harm done!

    1. To your knee, maybe - but the mace hasn't been the same since, eh? < grin >
I think I will enjoy it too. Something a bit different as well
