Well, yesterday did not work out as planned.
I dashed around getting washed and dressed for eight o'clock as the car was being collected between eight and eleven. Come eleven thirty and no collect, I fired off a text and got a reply - 'We didn't realise you were having a collection'. Well, sorry, but the text I was looking at very clearly said 'collect between eight and eleven' so that wasn't convincing but it was too late by then anyway. So it has been rescheduled for next Monday and I made sure they know I need the windscreen wipers changed as well as whatever the MOT and service involves.

To be fair, they were very apologetic . . .
As I still had the car, I decided to pop out to Marriages to get some dried yeast and some more flour and then, as I was in the same area, I popped in to Hobbycraft to get some pins.
So guess what turned up this afternoon!! Yup. I now have enough pins to see me out, for sure.
I had to laugh!
What I am mocking up is the top part of a nice, loose dress/top - I've gone for size 12 (sometimes I'm a 12 and sometimes a 10) and got it cut out. I also want to see if the back opening is strictly necessary - I'm not sure it is, I think it could perhaps go over my head without buttons and buttonholes.
If that works OK, I will probably add the shortened 'skirt' and make it into a longish top to go over legging/jeans. It's very cheap, plain polyester but, assuming it works, I don't want to waste the fabric. If it doesn't, better than finding out on more expensive fabric!

This is the pattern I bought in Rye, by the way.
I made the loaf. No full loaf photo this time but you can see it all worked well and now I have 'square' sourdough slices, no big holes (my mum used to call holes in bread 'butter thieves', did yours?) and perfect for sandwiches and toasties. Just what I was aiming for
Come the evening, I cleared the decks a bit in readiness for today. First thing, I am getting the bus into town to pick up the ordered patterns from Franklins (my oldie bus pass starts from nine) and then I will bring the sewing machine down and get started. I am just thinking that if the mock up works enough to become a garment, maybe I could machine embroider around the hems and neck. Someone did that the first week of Sewing Bee and it did look nice.
Housework? What housework!! lol That can wait until tomorrow as I have another empty day until late afternoon.
Happy Tuesday, everyone - have a super day, whatever your plans. xx

That is a really good sandwich loaf, big holes in bread are so annoying especially sandwich bread. So yours is just perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm really pleased to find a way of making sandwich shaped and textured bread, high in wholewheat and with mixed seeds that is still a sourdough loaf. Perfect! :-) Definitely worth the experimenting. xx
DeleteWow-that bread looks amazing! Catriona
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks. It tastes great too. I love a bit of bread baking. xx
DeleteGreat loaf for toasting and sandwiches. Housework vanishes when one starts sewing as well (warning you now).
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Ooh, maybe I should take up sewing and never have housework again! ;-)
DeleteBread looks wonderful. Sorry they didn't show up when they were supposed to! It must have been a bit annoying.
ReplyDeleteIt was rather nut I got stiff done (getting the yeast and flour) that I'd have had to do another time so no worries. And they were very apologetic . . . xx
