As expected, yesterday was a catch up day. I got the ironing done, some housework, some cooking, I worked hard on Beth's birthday present. All in all, it was most satisfying.
Strictly's elimination was a bit of a shocker but that's Strictly for you. I think I rather expected it. This year, more than ever, it is a popularity/personality thing as much as a dancing thing, isn't it. It doesn't make it any the less enjoyable as long as you take that on board - for me, anyway.
Today starts with circuits and then I have quite a list, mostly Christmas preparation stuff plus the usual Monday housework. It should be fun.
As I said in comments yesterday, there's a surprisingly large amount of festive stuff in the diary - going out, people round, etc, etc, etc, so I will; need to be very organised and do the necessary stuff in plenty of time so it doesn't bank up and create problems, mentally if not in any other way. I do feel a bit stressed when the regular stuff gets left for long.

How are you getting prepared for the Festive season? It seems to be approaching at a fearsome pace, doesn't it?
Have a great day, everyone. Take care and I hope all is well with you after Storm Bert. xx
I am feeling the same this year about the festivities. I am going to be very strict from now until end of term with working to my allotted hours and leaving on the dot ( dsl stuff of course doesn’t always allow for that )
ReplyDeleteIt’s no good for my well being when I start to feel rushed, put on and overwhelmed. I do want to get the house dressed up and wrap some stuff. I’ve not done the crafting I wanted to this weekend so that is already annoying me haha but I’m 3 weeks into a blinking awful cold so hoping this week it’s gone! It sounds more windy here today than when it was Storm Bert! Have a lovely week x Rachel
I'm sorry you've been feeling so very rough, Rachel. Having been in the same employment boat, I wish you well regarding working your hours and then leaving - as you say, really not as easy to do as to say but worth giving it a go! You can't be worse off, can you?
DeleteI agree, feeling rushed and overwhelmed is not good, either for you or for those around you. Go for it - and all the best.
xx
Very wet and windy this morning and has been all night. I have just dashed out and picked up a piece of trellis that has been blown off the garage. We both off to the dentist this morning one after the other but I am going to walk as it’s quite near the house. Catriona
ReplyDeleteWhat a pain about the trellis but I guess it could have been a lot more. And Good Luck with the dentist. I have a check up in a few weeks and I know there's stuff that needs doing - hopefully, I won't be able to get an appt until the New Year when things are calmer. xx
DeleteI haven't done anything for Christmas yet. I only have little ones to buy for and that's more a pleasure than a chore.
ReplyDeleteHappy hunting and have a great time choosing. xx
DeleteWell I've got a couple of Christmas dinner centrepieces in the freezer ready for the big day ... but they've been there since last year does that still count as being prepared.
ReplyDelete;-)
I was pretty sad yesterday visiting Mum, she loves Strictly and repeatedly my brother on his Saturday visit asks the staff to make sure her television is on BBC1 on a Saturday afternoon ready for it, and every week it's forgotten about. She hasn't seen a single episode this year. Sadly if her television is switched on for her she forgets to do it for herself.
It does very much count, of course. Anything that makes the whole beanfeast easier.
DeleteWhat a shame for your Mum - it's so hard, isn't it - you think they could remember one little thing. xx
An interesting but not totally unexpected Strictly result, Pete seems to be popular with the public.
ReplyDeleteI was sorry to read about Sue's Mum. My dear old Mum was in a Care home at the end of her life.....well, it's not appropriate to rant about that here, but it was a tough time.
Alison in Wales x
Yes, he really does - I do like his manner - it makes me smile.
DeleteMy Dad spent one week in a care home, hated every moment, ended up back in hospital where he died a few days later. He was very unwell by that time. It was a good care home, he just didn't want to be there. xx
I'm not feeling very prepared for Christmas yet, but as I have so much going on just now, I've decided to make things simple for myself, this year. I'm making a list of the things I really would like, such as a homemade door wreath, ice skating and my winter spice Vodka, and anything else will be optional. I certainly won't be wasting my money on a copy of the Radio Times this year. I hardly watch TV anyway. Xx
ReplyDeleteI think the RT can get to be a bit of a tradition, like buying a magazine, but I haven't bought one for years. To be fair, I can (and do) access it on Readly so it's a bit of a cheat really!!
DeleteI think making a list of what's really important is great - that is what Beth and I did and it helped tremendously.
Yesterday helped a lot in feeling more organised.
xx
The Christmas rush is coming, or rather has hit. We will be putting up our trees at some point this week, and I still have small gifts to make and treats to make.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Sounds good to me.
DeleteMaking gifts may seem a bit of a fuss but the amount of love that goes into them makes it all very special. I love making gifts.
Enjoy the tree day! xx
