Friday

Good morning.  A pinch and a punch and White Rabbits to you all.  January is over and February has started with a shiver.  We've had a bit of snow but not very much, nowhere near what other places have had.  I hope you're not too badly affected.

Well, yesterday came and yesterday went.  I was a bit fed up with a maintain at SW group but there you go!  I think in this cold weather I've become a bit lazy and I need to get out rather more.

I sat down and worked out my finances.  January has been a bit ouch all round but for very good reasons.  Two holidays (gadabout!) completely paid for, a deposit for having my bathroom done and I finished off the month by paying outright for a funeral plan thingy after much consideration.  It's not morbid, it is just sensible, and will make things much easier for my offspring when the time comes.  I'm glad it's sorted now but it has all made January pretty painful, money-wise.

Today is busy.  I'm having coffee with my friend just over the cul de sac and then I am off to my parents' home where I will wash, dry, maybe iron, cook and so on and so forth.  And that's about it really.

Please take care if you have to go out and the weather is not good for you.  Have a great day.
xx

  1. Don't be disappointed with a maintain. You're doing so well and I'm in awe of your achievements.
We have a covering of snow here and everything looks pretty and bright. X

    1. Thanks, Jules. If I knew why, it would help, but it doesn't always go according to ABC, does it.
Take care and stay warm. :-)

    1. I don't think we will. It's a bit sleety now and everything is mushing.

  3. I’m quite interested on the funeral planning. We were lucky to find a good funeral director when Dad died but even with paring costs right down it was still expensive enough. I might look into doing the same even though I hope to be here for a good number of years.

    1. I think it's a good idea - this one not only covers costs, it does all the arranging, thus taking pressure off the family. It's not a good time to make decisions, is it?

  5. No snow here, which is a bit of a shame really as I would prefer to stay in and sew rather than attack the cabbage patch! ...Wait! It has just started to snow!

  6. Maintain is better than increase - I am sure when the weather is better you will feel more like going out and that will make a big difference. Winter is for staying cosy and warm I think. My January accounts were heavy on bills for the cars but it is only once in the year thank goodness. Good idea on the funeral plan. My MIL took out a care plan and it helped us enormously when we had to pay care home fees. The insurers ended up paying towards her fees for 5 years so she had thousands of pounds out of them for her small investment - I don't presume they were too pleased though - in fact they did try to wriggle out of paying but couldn't find a reason!

    1. They always try, don't they!
I doubt you can get much of a care plan nowadays, they are too aware.

  7. Most of the local schools are closed but there is one that's stayed open - they've issued instructions to wear warm clothing and that there's to be a snowman building competition and a snowball fight, followed by hot chocolate and a film in the hall. Some schools have the right idea!

Hope you have a safe journey to your parents.

  8. After maintaining for what felt like seven years my scales have begun moving - slowly - in the right direction. Your body probably just needs a little pause for readjustment before it starts losing again.
