I had my little list to work through yesterday and, for once, I did it all.
After a cheerful chat and laugh with Chris over coffee, I made a yummy breakfast and I'll show you the photo because I've been very short of photos recently, haven't I?
I pootled off to Morrisons and came back with three semi-full bags plus cash to replenish the window cleaner pot - although I don't know why he bothers in this damp weather.
Anyway, as soon as I pay him, I replenish the pot so I don't get caught out!

After sorting out all the shopping and making/enjoying lunch, I set to the main task - the freezer.
To be fair, it wasn't all that bad. The ice scraped off reasonably easily with the air of my hair dryer (I was VERY careful, I promise) and it wasn't that long ago that I sorted out the baskets and bags so it was still reasonably organised.
And now it's all shiny, clean, back down to the right minus number (it really didn't take long to get cold again) and a pleasure to look into.
That's that for this year now, as far as defrosting is concerned!
I asked in our Governors' WhatsApp group because I noticed there was something in my diary about Monday but that's for staff, not for governors. Can't say I am all that sorry!!
Today, I will be off to Slimming World shortly and then Alex is over for more cooking. That will be nice.
When that's all done, I can make my dinner, get the coming week's meal planning done and chill for the rest of the day.
I can do my shopping before planning at the moment because I'm using what I already have and noting down on the following shopping list, as needed. For example, I have chicken in the freezer but when I'm down to the last one or two bits, it goes on the next list. Works for me and I don't do much top up shopping nowadays, I just substitute or change the plan.

Right, well, time to wrap this up and get ready for SW,
Have a lovely Friday, everyone. May all go well. xx

My freezer needs defrosting and reorganising again....not a job I like doing, but has to be done. xx
ReplyDeleteIt's better when I keep on top of it - which I really don't. The contents are organised OK, it's the build up of ice. :-) xx
DeleteWell done on being cheerful about defrosting the freezer, a job I always hated 😀
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
Not my fave task - our hands get so cold, don't they? xx
DeleteHad a lovely coffee, scone and chat with a friend this morning and then walked home. Very chilly wind and I was glad to get home. I want to plan a sewing task this afternoon so that will keep me occupied. Happy cooking with Alex. Catriona
DeleteIt didn't happen, sadly - he couldn't come. Hopefully, next week . . .
DeleteCoffee, a scone and chat sounds just wonderful. xx
Those waffles look delicious, Joy. Cleaning out the freezer can be a tedious chore, but it must be good to know that it's done now. Xx
ReplyDeleteIt does feel good, for sure. I'll do another audit in April, probably, but it shouldn't need defrosting. xx
DeleteI have never been able to make a decent waffle. Yours look scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I don't use the conventional recipe and I'd be glad to share what I do with you, if you like. The 'real' ones are a bit better but mine don't have butter and use sourdough starter, buckwheat flour and yogurt so are a bit more heart-healthy. xx
DeleteFood looks lovely. Well done on getting the freezer done!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sharon. It was on my conscience a bit so it is a relief.
DeleteWhat a delicious looking breakfast, and even better making the waffles and jam yourself. 😊
