Saturday

Good morning.  It's a bit blowy out there although, thankfully, dry and the skied are clear-ish.

My friend arrived safely after a rather difficult journey across London (problems on t'underground) and we had a jolly good chat while she had her dinner, making plans for today.

She has a couple of rail vouchers so we have decided to have a wee jolly to Southend.  We're not too far from Southend here but it's not the easiest of journeys - either three trains or train and linked bus as there is maintainence on the line or some such thing.  We'll do the latter, if possible, as it's just a bit quicker.

We were hoping that, once there, we could meet up with a friend, but the friend isn't very well at the moment so that won't happen.  We will wander around town (there's a Primark so I might even get those leggings, you never know), we might do the pier (it depends how blowy and cold it feels) and we might visit Sealife Adventure (must check if it's open) and we will have fish and chips for lunch which shatters my SW eating for today but I don't care.  To compensate a little bit, we'll be walking around quite a lot, camera at the ready, to take shots of exciting Essex coastal life!  Hah!

It's ridiculous that, living so close to Southend, I have rarely been there and it's about time that was remedied really.  It's all part of getting out and about more.  The line that goes through Chelmsford goes to Norwich and to Ipswich so there's another two places within easy reach for a day's outing to add to Colchester.

So that's today!  I hope yours is good too.
xx

  1. Your day out sounds fun and, of course, you must have fish and chips! They always taste better by the sea (and I've heard they contain fewer calories there too 😉)
We probably won't be heading out until later today as we're still being battered by storm Erik, which kept me awake much of last night. Enjoy your day. X

    1. Oh, absolutely - definitely fewer calories! It's the sea air neutralising them, you see. :-)
Have a good rest this morning - maybe even a lie in?

    1. I'll wave back from the end of the pier (if we get that far without being blown off)!

  3. Ooh! Fish and chips - what a treat! The wind should definitely blow away any cobwebs. Hope you and your friend had a lovely day. Too cold here to venture too far from home.

    1. It was lovely, Chris. VERY blowy and that made it feel a bit colder than it really was, but it was OK.
