Friday

Good morning, everyone.

I got the 9:08 bus into town yesterday while the sun was shining and everything looked cheery.  I was pretty moderate, looked at clothes but only got two cheap T shirts for the summer.  I did hover over some leggings, wondering if I dared (I've never worn leggings) but decided to think about it a bit more.  I've only just got really comfortable about wearing jeans after living in skirts and tops in my fat decades, so even thinking of leggings as a possibility is a huge step up for me.
The one I looked at were very cheap, from Primark, so if I didn't get on with them, it wouldn't be a financial disaster, but - well, we will see!  I'm thinking.

I had no luck with finding an Aran pattern but there's plenty of time for that.  I expect that if I stirred myself and sorted out a certain knitting cupboard, I would find a pattern there anyway.

Once home, I made the rice dish for the taster evening, did some washing, did some planning, knitted and read.  It was actually a very pleasant time.  Tuition went well.

At group, to my utter amazement give this past week, I lost two pounds.  Woo hoo.  The foods were really good too!

Today I am so, so glad I don't have to go out anywhere much as it is lashing with rain and very windy too.  Not nice.  In fact, I will need to wrap up just to run out to the shed for things from the freezer.

I need to do a bit of tidying as Beth is coming round and the cleaner is coming today, not to mention that I have a lovely friend coming to stay over the weekend, arriving this evening.  I shall be making some soda bread during the day as she cannot eat yeast based products so will need to resist temptation - there's little I like better than warm soda bread with butter and cheese - so NO!!!

Goodness, it is half past eight.  Better get moving!  Have a wonderful day, whatever the weather!

  1. Oh well done Joy, I'm so pleased for you!

Re the leggings...they're so comfortable I would definitely advise getting some - try wearing them indoors with a longer length top, if you're not sure about them, that's what I do. They look great with flat shoes, or ankle boots with thick socks.

    1. It would definitely be a longer top - my confidence wouldn't extend to a shorter one. You're persuading me. :-)

    2. I wear leggings 90% of the time but only EVER with long (just above the knee) tunics.

  2. Well done on all successes.
I wear leggings all the time despite being overweight! They fit properly which jeans never do on me are lovely and comfy and I always wear with tunic tops, covering the bum!

    1. They would definitely be teamed with a long top, for sure. The fitting bit is important as I have a very flat bum and nothing really fits neatly over it! :-)
      Thanks.

  3. Well done on the weight loss. Just what you needed. I sensed you were feeling a bit discouraged and that your resolve was not as strong a week or so ago.
As far as the leggings are concerned I wear mine all the time during the winter under trousers. They keep me beautifully warm so you could use them like that if you didn't enjoy wearing them with a tunic.
Actually they are just a modern version of woollen tights. Sue

  4. You are doing so well with the weight loss. Well done on your tenacity, you should be so pleased with your new shape. As for leggings, you get what you pay for. Some are thicker than others and just feel less like tights and easier to wear. Try around the house with a hip skimming top. I could live in mine especially at the difficult times when it’s not quite Spring but not quite Winter either. I like them with easy slip on flats.

    1. I expect that at £3.99, these would not be great but it would be a starting point.

  5. Go for the leggings! I wear them to work with tunics. Great for getting up and down on the floor when working with wee ones :-)

    1. That is a very good point. I always wore skirts and tops in school which wasn't always that convenient.

  6. I have a pair of leggings which I've worn a few times with some long sweaters. I even got complements, but I never really felt comfortable. I do wear some nice quality, close fitting stretchy pants, but they're a little looser than leggings and pretty much just as comfortable. I pair them with tunics and that's pretty much my everyday uniform. Only problem is that I have to shorten tunics a little because I'm quite short! Hope you have a wonderful weekend with your visitor!

    1. That's why I don't want to spend much until I know.
And thanks. We're probably off to Southend for a seaside frolic tomorrow. :-)

  7. Get some leggings mrs x the primark ones are ok but the best flattering fit ones that are a bit more 'structured' in keeping the wobbles in are from Sainrobbers - the soft touch moda Ones about a tenner- BUT buy them a size smaller than you would a skirt or pants x a lovely tunic top and voila - gorgeous and chic xxx
