Tuesday

 Morning, everyone.

First of all, a garden happy.  It's so much more a sensible height now, less threatening and, even if it did fall in the direction of my home, it would miss it.

Before.                                                                After

It was all very quick.  The tree surgeon was there by 9:45 and by the time I looked out at 11:00 it was all done and dusted.

Yesterday turned out very humid at times round here.  How was it your way?  We did circuits in Lindsey's garden and it was pretty sweaty at times but it's nice to make the most of being outside.

I came home and watched the procession of the Queen's coffin to St Giles' and the following service which I thought was really good.  The singing, especially, was superb and the harp and voice  item was hauntingly lovely.  I hope it was a comfort to the family.

This evening, it leaves St Giles' kirk for another procession to the airport, before being flown to London and Buckingham Palace overnight.
While that's going on, the King (it feels so very odd writing that) will be in Belfast, I gather, meeting political and religious leaders before yet another service in St Anne's Cathedral.
Poor man, he is going to be utterly worn out if he carries on at this pace.  Camilla too.  I do hope they take some down time once all this is over and his Mum is finally laid to rest.

As requested, here's a photo of the blanket as far as it's gone.  I fairly quickly worked out the cabling and was going great5 guns until I realised that a) I'd been so engrossed in catching up with House of Games, I'd worked far beyond the next colour change and then b)  I'd made a couple of mistakes earlier anyway.
So a fair bit of the cable section is now undone and I will be more careful today.

I am SO GLAD I did the practice blanket though!  And it's good to know that I could make loads and loads of mistakes (I'm not, by the way) and still have enough yarn!

Today starts with Groove aerobics and I'm looking forward to that.  Then, this afternoon, I have a meeting in school ('my' school) with Natalie, the head.  I haven't been into school for well over a year and before then it was only for a couple of Governors' meetings.  I'm well out of touch now so it should be very interesting.

Between times . . . guess!!   :-)

Have a lovely Tuesday, everyone.  Take care.  xx

  1. What a lovely shape that tree is now. The blanket is looking lovely, so colourful. I do feel so much sympathy for the Royals, as you say they're having to do so much rushing around - and changes of clothes. And they have to keep smiling and chatting and shaking hands and saying the same things over and over. Yes, they'll be exhausted I should think. xx

    1. It's lovely, isn't it? He did it really well, I think. I'm just so happy T&T decided to lop it rather than have it out. I'd have missed it so very much xx

  4. I thought yesterday how exhausted Charles looked. The pressure on him the last few days has been relentless, all on top of just losing his mother. I felt so sorry for him and hope he soon can be left alone for a few days and allowed to grieve in peace.
The blanket looks stunning and I'm sure will be treasured by the lucky recipient xx

    1. I know he is 'rising to the occasion' in the way they all do but really - we don't want another death in the near future. xx

    1. He does look extremely tired and Camilla not much better really. I thought Anne looked pretty weary too but at least she is getting some privacy between short times in the public gaze.

    1. It's just so much better all round. I know you understand after sorting out your hedge - or, rather, next door's hedge. xx

  7. The tree looks so much better now and is no doubt feeling good after it's haircut.

I really felt for the King yesterday, both he and Camilla looked exhausted, and he was so close to tears when 'God Save the King' was sung for the first time. We know ourselves how hard it is in the week following the death of a parent, and to be doing all that he is having to do for Royal protocol and the country, and with the eyes of the world upon him, it must be almost unbearable.

    1. It really must be. It can be a comfort to receive condolences, etc, but in private, not so very publicly. xx

  9. The blanket is beautiful and the tree surgeon did a great job on the tree. Hopefully Charles will get some rest after all this is over. It’s not easy losing your Mother.

    1. It really isn't. I guess we all have to at some time or other but he/they is/are in the spotlight across the whole world and no bereavement leave.
