Morning, everyone.
A quick one today because I'm a bit pushed for time.
Yesterday was a great day - too much food but apart from that, great.
SW was as good as it always is with lots of chuckles and happy stuff.
Then I drove over to collect the eggs but it was a wasted journey as her daughter had used them for some baking - ooops. Not to worry.
Once home, I sat in my recliner and promptly fell asleep until the cleaners woke me.
The evening with Dave and Anna was very enjoyable indeed.
This morning, I have been busy making scones. My friend, Val, who I was out with on Thursday, is hosting a nice big family gathering tomorrow with an afternoon tea so I said I'm make some scones for her. I dithered between the Delia and the Mary Berry recipes and decided on Mary's. An hour or so later I had twenty four lovely smelling scones - twelve plain and twelve fruit - plus another eight in a round 'cake' using the scraps. I don't usually waste an egg in glazing but I did this time and there's no doubt it does improve their appearance.
They're all in the freezer now and this afternoon I will drive over to Val's with them and she can put them straight in her freezer.
A nice day, I think.
Take care and have a good time. xx
Mmmmmmm Scones - haven't made any lately, perhaps something for next week
ReplyDeleteThey are so very easy for such deliciousness, I think. Jam on cream or cream on jam - I don't care!!
Deletexx
I haven't made in ages either. I'm definitely a butter and jam kinda girl...... and maybe a bit of cream if we have some in.
DeleteButter and cream - you know how to live!! :-) xx
DeleteScones look delicious. Haven’t made any for ages. Catriona
ReplyDeleteVal was very pleased when I took them over and I got them frozen so quickly, they should be nice and fresh tomorrow afternoon. I hope so, anyway. xx
DeleteThose scones look delicious. Xx
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I haven't tasted them but they did smell lovely. With things like that, one leads to another, if you know what I mean. xx
DeleteI like making the round one with wedges or even just square scones, there are no cutters (or even rolling pin in my case) to wash that way. An egg glaze really adds to the look of them doesn't it, or if your vegan a milk and pinch of turmeric one.
ReplyDeleteIt was easy to do the wedges, that's for sure and the egg glaze just finished them off nicely. Not that I would usually but in this instance . . . xx
