Tuesday

Good morning.
Brrr - it's turned cold again and there's quite a frost out there this morning.  Better wrap up warm and cosy.

Yesterday passes without any problems.  I got the ironing done (cheers) in the morning, did my duty at school, enjoyed tuition and had a pleasantly peaceful evening,  Very nice too.

This morning it's pottery class.  I have bagged together all the tools I have managed to collect since last week, packed everything else and even stuck some things into the portfolio.  I'm not a partfolio person.  In spite of (or, perhaps, because of) decades of teaching, I hate setting targets, listing what I hope to learn and how I hope to learn it (how do I know anyway - that's what I'm there for - to find out) and negotiating objectives and steps with a tutor who is way too busy for that sort of detailed attention.  Consequently, those pages are barely touched.
However, I have looked for ideas, taken photos, etc, and the ones I have used are now stuck in while the rest are just clipped in at present.

After pottery, I have a few hours to myself before today's bit of tuition.

So that's today.  Really quite a good day, I hope.  I wonder if we will get some snow overnight . . .

  2. I am with you on the portfolio - art is creative you learn as you go along by experimenting and each time you will want to explore and discover. Go where it takes you is my advice.

    1. I agree. The tutor doesn't seem to mind too much. :-)

  3. Those endless what you want to achieve and how you think you're going there etc. etc. used to annoy me with the OU learning and I found them off putting.

  4. I've had too many years of setting targets to want to do it now in my retirement, so I understand how you feel. Just indulge in your new hobby and enjoy whatever path it takes you on!

  5. I think it would put me off if I had to spend ages working out what I want to learn and how to go about it....I'd just want to be shown and get on with it!

No frost here, it's wall to wall dull grey drizzliness.

    1. It's warmed up considerably here too, thankfully. We won;t get snow at these temperatures (unless it's chilled again since I got home).

  6. It snowed yesterday evening here after a beautiful, clear and cold day of blue sky. Expecting more snow today. Enjoy the pottery!

  7. I guess your goal is to relax and enjoy learning something new. Good for the brain and good for the soul!

    1. I think so and there seems to be some evidence that activity that combine intelligence, creativity, motor skills and decision making in a productive and creative manner is very good for cognative functioning.
      (There's a mouthful!)
Definitely good for the soul too.
