Thursday

Good morning.  It's stupid o'clock and I've been awake since before three with things buzzing around in my head.  That can and often does happen after a governors' meeting and really I should have chilled with some undemanding telly before going up to be.  Thankfully, I'm starting to feel tired so maybe I will get a little more sleep before the day starts.  I hope so.

Yesterday was a really good one.  I met up with A for coffee and we talked our way through the next two hours before we had to go our separate ways.  It's always lovely to meet with old friends, isn't it?

Then I went online and did what I have been planning to do for a few weeks and that's book a holiday.  Yes, another holiday!  Bad me!  This one is before the school summer holidays and it to Southwold.  When I had a holiday in Suffolk a couple of years ago, I wanted to visit Southwold as I've heard some really good things about it from friends and it's an interesting area anyway.  Being on the coast is another attraction.

So I looked around and found a site that had some really nice small flats/cottages/houses in Southwold and ended up booking one just off the High Street.  Basically, it looks like an upmarket flat pack garden room and, indeed, it is called The Garden House.  It is just one room with separate bathroom and fold down bed and it looks very attractive and perfect for one.  The thing that clinched it is that it has private parking which, in a seaside town in summer, definitely adds value.
Here's a link with photos.  Not cheap but this is Southwold!

I can see that I will spend most of my time walking around, enjoying what the town has to offer and my fingers are crossed that the weather will be good - it usually is at the time I have chosen.

So that is me sorted for the year, holiday-wise.

Today, the first thing on the agenda is more sleep, fingers crossed.  This morning I am meeting up with another friend (what a gadabout!) and then it's home for housework, planning, tuition and Slimming World group this evening.  Another semi-busy day.

Right - I'm going back up now to find that elusive sleep.  Here's hoping . . .
xx

  1. Morning Joy, hope you've managed to get back to sleep. I actually had a pretty good night for a change, so it is possible!

What a lovely little place and very well laid out. Southwold is indeed very pretty, we've been there on holiday a couple of times. Walberswick, just down the coast, is lovely too, and there are a few nice nature reserves nearby, if that's your thing.

    1. I've never been there but people say it is a delightful place so it seemed a good idea. I had a doze so will probably have a nap this afternoon.

    1. I had a bit of a doze and now feel perfectly wide awake, thankfully.
All that light struck me too. I'll appreciate it, especially in the summer although I intend taking a fan with me because you know how hot it can be and the roof looks quite thin.

  3. You will be glad of the private parking! Despite living just a few (well 20minutes) away for 23 years we rarely visited and I've still not been on the pier since it's renovation. I need to go there to "do" the churches in the area sometime

    1. I have to admit, private parking and wifi were non negotiables. The rest was flexible.
Maybe we could meet for a coffee? No problems if you'd rather not.

    1. That's good to know. As everything is in walking distance, I am thinking to eat out a few evenings. Thanks.

  5. How exciting!
We have just started using self catering accommodation for holidays and I love trawling through sites to find the “perfect” place. Being able to choose out of school holiday dates has been a revelation too.
Your choice looks lovely, so peaceful with plenty of space and a sunlit garden.
I'm so sorry that you haven't recovered properly yet and hope that you are not travelling to parents this weekend so that you can have a quiet couple of days. Sue

    1. It's a whole different ball game out of school holidays. There's so much available and, of course, the prices are lower too.
For a glorified shed, there really seems to be plenty of space. I expect storage is minimal but for a holiday cottage that's fine.

No, I'm not off this weekend, I'm at home. By next weekend I should be feeling much better.

  7. Did you realise that a very rude site comes up when you click on the link?

    1. Joy, I've had problems with pornographic sites coming up when clicking on links on your blog for ages - in fact, one did just now when I clicked on the 'Reply' button above. I try to close the page quickly before it fully loads, but it is a bit annoying.

    2. I know it is but Google aren't interested and I don;'t know what it is so can't do anything about it. It's really not nice and I just close it down really quickly. This blog is still there behind it. I'm really, really sorry.

  8. The Garden room is very well fitted out and you should be very cosy in there and how great to be just in the centre with parking.
Hope you managed a few more hours sleep.
