Good morning, everyone. It seems very apt to focus on tomatoes today - my Dad loved growing his tomatoes and always had loads. I have inherited that from him.
Here's a clip of the tomatoes on the other side with the clematis at the beginning and finishing with the blueberry (one little clump of berries this year - a shame) and courgette number one! Again, apologies for the noisy background.

Do you grow tomatoes? What kinds?
Wow, that's a lot of tomatoes! Variety I mean - well, and quantity! When we grew tomatoes it was generally a salad variety, a plum and some tumbling cherry toms in hanging baskets - 2 or 3 plants of each. xx
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have a selection, isn't it? I set out to get some new (to me) ones this year. I could quite happily eat garden tomatoes morning, noon and night - I just love them. xx

ReplyDeleteOut of those I've only ever grown a couple - many years ago. I tended to try newer varieties each year and now only plum as they don't have so many seeds. Just two this year - Sun Grape and Super Mama
< chuckle > I sincerely hope not! I couldn't find any larger plum plants this year - maybe they all get snapped up quickly.

What a super photo of your dad, thank you for sharing it. I think next year I will start growing more tomatoes. We grew them when I was working so would bring home some seedings. I did enjoy picking them fresh for lunch, but as my garden chair was next to them I would wave my hand in the foliage (I do love that tomato smell) and then pick one or two to eat there and then! I need to do that again. Last year were Gardeners Delight and a small yellow variety.

DeleteSending hugs your way. It doesn't seem that long ago. Saying that as it's coming up on two years that I lost Mum. I don't think the heart ache will ever go away, but it's a little easier to remember the good times now.

ReplyDeleteYou have lots of lovely tomato plants there and judging from all the flowers you are in for a bumper crop. I have a few Gardeners Delight, one Shirley and one plant that simply says 'Yellow Tomatoes' ... it's not going to be up to my previous years tomato crops is it. ;-)
I'm really happy how well they are doing at the moment. Fingers crossed the dreaded bl*ght stays away!
