    Hi Joy, the passport protection is RFID and you can buy a little folder to slip your passport in when it is not being inspected.

      Sorry no idea what it stands for (RFID) but it is a built in process to the paper or cloth that the cover is made of.It is to stop illegal scanning of credit cards and Passports with microchip.
      The sleeves or covers are not expensive. Safe travels.😎
