Monday

Good morning, everyone.  Well, I made the Yorkshire puds but, sadly, they won't be seeing the inside of the freezer.  It's frightening how incredibly easy it is to eat twelve little Yorkshires on a cold and increasingly snowy day (not all at once, I hasten to add)!  Those first too didn't even live to see the outside of the oven - well, I had to check that they were done, didn't I?  They were lovely, as was/is the slow roasted beef.  I've posted a recipe for the beef on Teacher's Recipes; just follow the link.  It's nothing special but it tasted very good indeed and there's plenty left over for other meals.

Yesterday I said that the weathermen got it right as far as the rain was concerned.  As the day passed, they got it right regarding the sleet and finally the snow too.  It was snowing pretty hard in the evening and starting to settle too, despite the ground being so wet.  I can't see it staying long but, hopefully, the children will have time to play a bit before it mushes and slushes.  It was all very pretty.  And cold!

As for today, we will see.  No K so I will have to work a bit harder again - what a shame.  I can't see there being a snowday, although most of my colleagues come from further away and I don't know what driving conditions are like.  The call comes through before seven, so I think I will have my bath now and do the preparations for school after I'm dressed, so I will be at the phone at the right time.  Better get going then.

I see you have been visited by the snow fairy too let hope it is not too miserable if you have to travel. Lunch look pretty good, there is nothing like a Sunday roast

We have indeed, Diane, it was almost blizzardy at times in the evening, but it's stopped now.
Lunch was good, thanks. That cake you posted a picture of looks wonderful too!

Yumm!
Sorry Joy, I can reach the recipe blog via the links in the texts but the URL link on the Gateway on the left hasn't been activated yet so you can't click on it (copying and pasting works though...) Nothing wrong with the name and the address, it just needs to connect.
Looks like we are having your snow this morning, I knew I should have gone shopping yesterday afternoon but OH knew better!!! ;)

I am really sorry, Annabeth, I don't know what to do to make the link live, it's really annoying. If you highlight it and right click you can choose to go there but it just isn't live.
Are you getting much snow?

Ah thanks, that is a good tip and it works a treat!
Luckily it fizzled out half an hour after my moan and turned to sleet and then rain. Must say I'm getting heartily sick of this Winter, it's so miserable, wet and cold!

It was unpleasant here today too. It snowed this morning, now it is raining but it's so cold the snow is still lying. Slushy and nasty!
