After a very unpleasant and sticky night, it feels quite nice at the moment. I have doors and windows open and fans pulling the fresher air from outside into the house. That will need to stop soon but, right now, it is refreshing.
I usually enjoy a really hot bath in the morning but today a lukewarm one felt so good!
It wasn't great going into school yesterday afternoon. A number of children were being picked up by their adults and it will be the same today - the school isn't closing though.
The meetings were good although I felt for the staff concerned - talking to a governor was probably the last thing they wanted to do. Good news on the phonics front and then a longer talk with the SENDCo.
When I got home I wrote up the phonics report and sent it off. Later this morning I will write the SEND one and then my duty is done.

And my TiVo box overheated and there was a warning on the telly screen. That's never happened before! Hopefully no damage has been done but I ordered a new one a few days ago anyway - Virgin said I had to - so that's OK.
I've already done the minimal housework I intended to do apart from a bit of ironing which I will do after I've posted this.
Chris is over for our Thursday
Then I was supposed to drive over to Val's for lunch but we have rescheduled it for a fortnight. I'm fortunate to have this flexibility.
After all my moaning and groaning, some good news.
One of the lost dahlias in the back garden has found itself. There were five but one is better than none and I have the one I planted this year too so that's nice. The confused dahlia at the front is growing rapidly now. No buds yet but It can't be that long.
And the lone pear is still there, still growing.
I'd better stop waffling and deal with that ironing and then I can put the basket and iron away. Clutter make a room feel hotter, doesn't it?
Take care, stay sun-safe and have a comfortable day, everyone. xx

I’m going to a meeting in Council HQ today at 2pm when the temperature is forecast to be around 29C! Wish me luck and I am taking a portable fan with me and some water. Catriona
ReplyDeleteThe worst possible timing - good luck, Catriona. Hopefully the fan and the water will help. xx
DeleteI can't believe you are going to do ironing in this heat! Be crumpled and cool!
ReplyDelete< chuckle ? I did it well before nine, there wasn't much and it was fine. It would have bothered me if I hadn't. xx
DeleteLovely that you’ve got some dahlias that you thought were no go, I’m so delighted with my dahlias, not got masses but what there is are looking great now .
ReplyDeleteI’m glad this is the last day of extreme heat for a while .

They are beautiful, aren't they? I love dahlias.
DeleteSadly, round here, tomorrow is supposed to be worse, if possible. Rain Saturday morning. xx
The forecast heat seems to be pushed forward another day every day!
ReplyDeleteYes. Not nice, is it? xx
DeleteWhen my boys were in elementary school there was one summer they were sent home early because there was no air conditioning and fans could just not keep the rooms on the second floor very cool at all.
ReplyDeleteI planted a Dahlia for the first time this year. Here they are an annual as the winters are much too cold.
God bless
Interesting - because there's an awful lot of nastiness around at the moment regarding 'raising a generation of snowflakes' because schools are showing concern over pupils' well being. Or 'lazy teachers wanting even more holiday', as if they don't still have to be in schools anyway or do directed work.
DeleteDid you have any of that? xx
I rescued a beautiful dahlia from Aldi yesterday. The poor thing was in desperate need of a drink. It looked so sorry for itself that the checkout lady knocked 30% off. It perked up as soon as I sat it in a bowl of water.
ReplyDeleteWell done. Poor thing - I hate to see the way some shops neglect their plants.
DeleteI am sure it will thank you over and over again. xx
I hate really hot days and it's horrible to sleep in the heat at night.
ReplyDeleteWe had a pretty nice weather week. It was just about the temperature I like, where I can sleep comfortably and have the windows out in the daytime. Things are going to heat up though and it will be 30s all next week. Sigh. I am not looking forward to it!
It can be really horrible - bedrooms seem to hold heat which is lovely in winter but . . .
DeleteGood luck next week. We are forecast the opposite - it will still be warm but nice-English-Summer warm. Fingers crossed.
xx
I hadn't thought about it but I agree. Clutter does make a room hotter. So true!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteA good reason for putting things away. lol xx
