Good morning again, everyone.  Another week begins and it looks like being much more regular and steady than last week.  Lots of last week was lovely but some things were unsettling and I do like a regular sort of existence these days.  Definitely getting elderly, I fear.

When I was at M&S last week, I treated myself to some flowers and they look lovely.  I got the jug while I was away last week as a sort of treat/memory thing - no fridge magnets though!

Yesterday was nice.  The sun shone, my lovely neighbour cut my grass for me (it's at the front and open and it was so nice of him) and Lindsey's loaves came out a treat.  I think Bubbles really likes this milder weather - the dough rose much better than the last few months and the loaves look really good this time.  Lindsey says they always taste good but sometimes looks count as well!

Today has started off - I was going to say 'well' but that's not the right word.  I took a look at my tea towels and muslin wipes and decided they were looking off colour so I've put them in the hottest wash my machine will do to freshen them up.
Does anyone remember those twin tubs when you could actually do a boil wash - great for nappies and dishcloths but not at the same time!!
Anyway - they should be done and out on the line before I leave for circuits, looking all clean and nice again.
I dunno - the things that make us happy!!!  Daft!

Hopefully, it is a Kay-Day this morning.  Things have been a bit up and down for her recently so I'm waiting for her to confirm but fingers crossed.
After that I need to go to the mill for some more flour, especially rye and then on to Sainsburys for some spelt.
I'm also expecting a few emails that will need dealing with at some point today too.

So nothing too alarming but it should keep me nice and busy for a while!
Hopefully you have a lovely day coming up too.  xx

  1. Thanks for the memory regarding a boil wash.
The farm house I lived in, in England when I was a child had a big copper boiler. My Mum would stoke up the fire to get the water boiling for wash day.

    1. I'm trying to remember what Mum used - yes, a boiler type thingy that heater the water too, I can't remember how she rinsed and then there was the mangle! I used to love watching her turn the handle and the water that dripped down. We children were never allowed anywhere near the mangle!
And then I helped by passing her the clothes to hang up. My Mum was very patient, bless her.
Wash day really was hard work in those days, wasn't it? And yet Mum counted herself lucky to have those appliances to use. xx

  2. Yes, I remember the boil wash. My mum’s favourite wash powder was Daz then when she finally got an automatic machine she switched to Persil non bio and never switched again - if I catch a whiff of it now the warm memories come flooding back

    1. Mum use whatever was cheapest that week. When Surf came out, it was called 'square deal Surf' (I think it was Surf) and claimed to be cheaper with no 'free' gifts. Remember those plastic flowers? xx

  3. I never had the means to do a boil wash as all nappies were washed in the sink by hand, but I did pride myself on getting them absolutely spotless after a good soaking in Napisan and then a wash. The sun is trying to get out here but it's very cold again, so my washing for today is just hanging there waiting for sunshine.

    1. Oh, wow. I was spoilt! The twin tub was a wedding present from Mum and Dad.
My clothes dried beautifully on Monday - I love line dried clothes. xx

  4. Love the jug full of spring flowers. I did a full load of home made dusters( old T-shirts cut up) on a hot wash last week and the dried beautifully in the sunshine. Catriona

    1. I always feel I ought to turn things into dusters but don't. Bad me. And now I have my muslins, I never will.

  5. The jug is lovely, and far nicer than a fridge magnet, in my humble opinion.
Your flowers are lasting well. Xx

    1. Very much nicer - I do love it. Both would have been nice but there was no reason for Islip or Thrapston to have touristy stuff. xx

    1. Yes, it is, and daffs are around a pound a bunch so really don't break the bank. I tend to get three bunches at a time. xx
