Sunday: Blogmas day 4

Good morning, everyone.  It's just getting light and it's dry, cold and cloudy.  Beeb says it is going to be dull and cold all day but later on it the week they think it's going to get much, much colder.  Snow, anyone?  Not round here, I bet!

Apologies for the poor photos coming up - my camera really doesn't like the lighting and so on.

We got the tree up and decorated and it's lovely.  Garish, yes, but very cheering and many of the decorations have memories attached.
Those three bears are known as the Guardians of the Christmas Tree.  From left to right, it's my youngest brother's teddy, then Beth's and on the right, mine.  Very old, battered and precious.  All the others are bits and bobs I have knitted or been given (usually by children in my class) over the years.
They all come out year after year without fail.

While we were at it, I dug out some baubles to go on the twiggy thing on the new kitchen window ledge and it does look nice - nicer than the photo shows.

Once the tree was done, we watched some films - The Snowman, Father Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street.

What with the buffet and everything else, it was just a lovely day.

Right now, Alex is up and Beth is still asleep.  They will be going home this morning and the rest of the day will be nice and quiet.  There's a bit of a mess to clear up, boxes to take upstairs and knitted Father and Mother Christmasses to find - they were not in the boxes so they must be upstairs somewhere.

I didn't get to watch Strictly.  I do know who went out but that's OK, I can still enjoy the dances.  Also, there's a number of Vlogmas vlogs to watch on YouTube.
I'll appreciate having a quieter day because, annoyingly, I have caught another cold.  Just a cold, nothing worse, but it doesn't feel as bad as the last one so, hopefully, in a couple of days it will go away again.  In the meanwhile, I have plenty of easy peelers to scoff.

Today's Christmas music for you is a lovely rendition of 'Gabriel's Message', sung by the Beatus Choir.

Enjoy.  xx

  2. The little tree on your window ledge has inspired me again thank you Joy. I have a twiggy thing which came out of my husband's fish tank and is currently sitting in the bathroom. I shall dust it down, decorate it and add twinkling lights!

  3. Your new windowsill is just perfect for that lovely little display. It's hard getting good lighting for photos at the moment isn't it. I have to choose between retro looking darkness or the glare of the lights being on, oh well we'll call it atmospheric and leave it at that. I love the Christmas header photograph.

    1. Atmospheric sounds good to me, definitely!
I made those figures for Mum a couple of years before she died so claimed them back as Dad didn't want them. They will have a 'place of honour' each December from now on. :-)

  5. Your decorating is lovely. My camera is not the best picture taker in certain lights either. I may have to use my phone more (takes much better photo's).

    God bless.
