Saturday

Good morning, everyone.  Goodness, wasn't it hot yesterday!  Absolutely baking.

I did my shop at Sainsbury's, spending more than I intended but never mind and then went to water.

When the cleaners arrived, I went upstairs to be out of their way, turned on the fan, settled down on the bed to read and woke an hour later!  I must have needed it.

In the afternoon, finally, I met Beth at the allotment.  It was way to hot to do any work there but we dug some potatoes, pulled some baby corn and cut some courgettes.  Beth took the corn because I had the last lot and we shared out the rest.  I think the potatoes have been the best they've ever been for us.
Then we sat under the tree and chatted.  It was really too hot to do anything else.

Once home, it was just too hot to do much so I changed into a cool dress, turned on the fans, drew the blinds across and chilled.  We had a bit of rain later but not, as far as I can tell, any storming.

Today, hopefully, the temperature will have moderated.  I have to go into town to pick up my prescription from Boots and, as I'm going early, I may well have a wander round, mask and gloves on, to see what there is to be seen.

There's watering at the allotment and in the garden to do and I have a basket of ironing - it was just too hot to do any yesterday.  I will get my bits of planning done for this coming week and then just generally chill, I think.  I might go for a walk, depending on how hot it gets.

A bit of a nothing day really but it should be very pleasant.  Take care, everyone, and drink plenty of fluids in this lovely warm weather.   xx

  1. We hit 31 degrees yesterday so I pottered about in the garden and kept retreating to the house for a glass of water and a cool down. It was still really warm through the night. Pleasantly cool now.

  2. Yesterday's heat defeated most people I think. It's a bit cooler today and we're due a few hours of rain later this morning - the clouds are gathering as I write this so I'm having a quiet day indoors.

Did you you get your new jeans yesterday? I hope you enjoy your walk if you do decide to go out.

    1. No rain predicted here, just a really pleasant day. Lovely! I hope your rain is enough to refresh the plants but no more. :-)
No, I didn't, they didn't have any on my size or length that I wanted. I'll take a look in M&S when I'm in town.
      Have a lovely day. xx

  4. Well I wouldn't call that a nothing day Joy I would call it a do what you feel like doing day due to the heat. It sounds quite an enjoyable day to me. I do like the sound of freshly dug up potates and home grown mini corns....very nice. The only scary mention was about the ironing.......which I detest LOL!! keep well Amanda :-)

  5. It was lovely and warm here yesterday, although it's very telling just how wet we have had it lately, as I haven't needed to water my garden in weeks. X

    1. Very telling. It's always dryer down here in South East England.

  6. I've been drinking oodles of water, too. How fun to chat with your friend in the shade. An unexpected nap is a great thing...
