Friday

Good morning!  It's been cold, we've had a bit of rain (yay), the clouds have rolled away and, right now, the sun is shining happily.  Lovely!

Yesterday was a pretty dull, boring, nothing sort of day apart from a lovely chat with Val and so chilly that I turned up the heating.  In June!!!  Definitely something to be grateful for, the central heating (and the wherewithal to run it).

I've just been out to take a few photos in the sunshine so here they are - a garden update!

Looking right:

Turning left a bit:

The flower bed is looking pretty:

and the pinks smell wonderful morning and evening:

The clematis is trying to cover the fence with flowers and there are some really big buds waiting their turn across the top.

The tomatoes are coming on well:

So are the mini cucumbers:

Good old garden, giving so much pleasure!

Today, being Friday, is cleaner day so I must make sure everything's ready for them.  When they come, I generally disappear to the allotment so as to be out of their way.  I didn't go in the end yesterday so phew for the rain.  Today I need to do what I didn't do yesterday.

Apart from that, there's very little on.  Beth and I had thought about a lunchtime barbie but we have decided it's not really warm enough and maybe next Friday would be better when we can celebrate the end of his exams with Alex.

I'm getting a bit lazy, I think.  Maybe I will look online and see when there's a space to visit Hyde Hall.  It would be super to visit and have a good walk around.  It will be very different from when I last went at the beginning of March, won't it?
Have a lovely day!  xx

  1. Your garden is looking good. You have a lovely mix of growing spaces and places to relax.

I didn't need to put the heating on but it is definitely much colder here and the wind is so strong it's brought some tree branches down. Fortunately during the night so no one was hurt.

I hope you're able to book a slot for Hyde Hall. The National Trust is gradually opening up some of their places so I'm hopeful that the places I'm interested in will open soon.

    1. Thank you. The sun lasted for about half an hour so I'm glad I seized the moment. The wind has picked up here too - not dangerously so but more than a mere breeze.

    1. Maybe it is heading this way because we really could do with more - and just as I typed this, the sun popped out!!
But yes - still really chilly. I've put on a long sleeved jumper today.

    1. Thanks, Mary-Lou. I call it my 'stone circle' and when the extension was build I was worried that I might lose it but it all just worked out nicely. I love it very much.

    1. I do, especially when I lounge under next door's birch which overhangs my garden beautifully. It casts a very dappled light and is always moving. Lovely and restful. Thanks very much.

  6. Thank you so much. What I like is that there's plenty there but also there's some space. Room to breathe.
If it were longer, I'd love a little woodland area but it's not so I'm not pining at all.

    1. Thanks. No, I guess I'm not really lazy but I do love the retired and easy life. Fair pay after a long career in teaching, I guess.

    1. Thanks, Chrissie. It did smell lovely in the warm sunshine, not so much at the moment in the rather chilly wind.

    1. Maybe I'm just a softy! It felt cold this morning and it feels quite cold now. I've been wearing a jumper all day which has helped.
Thank you for the kind words.
