I am starting with an apology - The Tuesday aches morphed into a bit of a cold - sore throat and, yesterday, a fuzzy head and blocked nose. I couldn't get my head around writing about Edinburgh but I will at some point.
I went to the meeting which was very productive. However, I had planned to pull out of Personal Training and would have done except that Lindsey sent a message round to say she was poorly so couldn't teach classes today.
On a positive note, I was able to sit and concentrate on my cross stitch . . . . . . and my blanket squares.
Now I am up to date with both.
Advent goodies are . . .
the candle in a tin (I am already using the tins for things like stitch markers, etc)
today's bit of the puzzle
a white tea, coconut and passion fruit tea bag
and a slightly sticky mini-jar of strawberry jam
The crochet square for today (and tomorrow) is a heart.
Chris and I are having our coffee and chat online - I'm probably not infectious now (it's worse before it 'comes out', I believe) but it seems more sensible.
Val and I were going to meet for our Christmas lunch but a few days ago she contacted to cancel as - guess what - she had a bad cold. I messaged her yesterday to say if she hadn't had to cancel, I would, and she said now Mike has it too so one way or another it's a bit yuck for them.
We will have something in the New Year instead - that will be nice.
We will have something in the New Year instead - that will be nice.
So it is another day chilling which means I can get ahead with the blanket, cross stitch and puzzle as, fingers crossed, I am out tomorrow, going to the Thursford Spectacular - although I will have to make a judgement on it tomorrow morning. I do hope I can go but one has to be sensible.
I will get ahead with the crafting anyway.
I will get ahead with the crafting anyway.
Slightly later edit: I've pondered and it just wouldn't be right to potentially share my germs - it's pretty much retired people on these coach trips, more vulnerable, and I'm gutted but mustn't be selfish. So I have emailed Jan and Ray, pulling out, and maybe next year I will go. Perhaps someone else can have my place.)
******************************
Today's Advent Calendar music is another I really love, a beautiful performance of 'Mary, Did You Know', sung by One Voice children's choir.
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
That your baby boy
Has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered
Will soon deliver you.
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Will give sight to the blind man?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Would calm a storm with His hand?
Did you know
That your baby boy
Has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby
You've kissed the face of God?
Mary, did you know?
Oo, Mary, did you know?
The blind will see
The deaf will hear;
The dead will live again!
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of the Lamb!
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Is the Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know
That your baby boy
Will one day rule the nations?
Did you know
That your baby boy
Was heaven's perfect Lamb?
And the sleeping Child you're holdin'
Is the Great I Am!

I'm sorry to hear that you're unwell, Joy. Take care of yourself. Xx
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jules. It is just a cold and Chris brought round some Vick and some throat/cough sweets so I'm well set. I'm glad my life is relatively simple so resting up is achievable. xx
DeleteI always say Christmas Day can be any day you want. One year we had it in July! In a heatwave in the garden!!, Same with birthdays. It about the people who you are with. Hope you feel better soon Joy. June xx
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, June. I totally agree. People come first. xx
DeleteThis is my favourite modern Christmas song, sung beautifully here by 'One Voice choir' Sorry you have a cold, hope you'll feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely song, isn't it? xx
DeleteI often think if the voice in our head doesn't tell us to slow down and rest a bit and change gear our body will! Hope you feel better soon. Good on you to not pass those germs on as every time they are passed on day by day eventually someone, somewhere is going to feel poorly for the big day itself. Take care X
ReplyDeleteYes, my thinking exactly. And some people who come on these trips are pretty fragile - what is just a nuisance to me could be really dangerous to someone else. xx
DeleteSorry you are unwell, probably picked it up during your Edinburgh trip, hope it passes soon. x
ReplyDeleteI think I must have - it could be from someone in the group or it could just be someone I passed in the street. These things can be easily caught and we don't wear those masks nowadays. xx
DeleteHope you feel better soon. Good idea to rest up and not share your germs. I am enjoying the Christmas music each day. Not heard Mary, did you know before.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, isn't it. Thoughtful too, a bit like Thorns in the Straw which comes tomorrow. :-) xx
DeleteI hope you're feeling better now. Our local hospital trust has been hit hard with 'flu. I wish more people were like you and thought of others. Now you have things to look forward to in the new year.
ReplyDeleteI love that carol.
You know, I felt ashamed that I even thought I might be able to go if I felt OK. Reason soon re-established itself, hence the fairly pronto edit. I am very much hoping I will be OK for the RAH carols on Sunday though - that's three days to recover. xx
DeleteGet well soon x
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
Thanks, Alison. xx
DeleteI hope that you are soon feeling a bit better. Crying off that coach trip seems like a very good idea, for your sake as well as all the other travellers. Time quietly spent at home catching up with your crafts sounds just perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very restful day, thanks, Sue. xx
DeleteSuch a beautiful modern carol-thanks for sharing. Very wise to miss the coach trip both for yourself and others. Rest and recuperate with some crafting thrown in. Catriona
ReplyDeleteYes, I think it was. No way would I want to be up and doing today (it is now Friday) so it was the right decision for everyone. xx
DeleteWhat a good idea to call off the trip. As you say, you wouldn't want to share your germs with everyone. I love that carol. The snowflakes are lovely as is your cross stitch.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you, Jackie. I am sure the rest of the group will have a better time for me not spraying germs right, left and centre. xx
