Thursday evening, 07-11-24

Evening, everyone!
It's been a much more pleasant day today, weather wise.  It's still been sunshine-free but the clouds were higher and it was not damp and drizzly.  Vat and I agreed that it was just a degree or two above feeling chilly which is good for November.

An online SET class was first on the agenda this morning.  For one, my internet connection played ball and there were no freezes or drops.  It was good - the first of a new block so the music was different although most of the moves were the same - it's not dance sequences like Groove, more short bursts like circuits.

At half past eleven, I set off for Val's.  It's an easy enough drive along major roads and takes around twenty to twenty five minutes.
Val suggested we go out to Blake House Craft Centre to have lunch at Sconch.    This is Sconch . . .
and so is this.

After a delicious goats cheese and red onion panini (so delish) we trawled around the yarn area.  Yes, I was tempted and yes, I bought something, but it is allowed because it is for my Twelve Days of Christmas.  I'll show you when the time comes.  :-)
Some stunning yarns and some brilliant books but . . . my halo is intact!
Thank you for a lovely time, Val.  xx

Then I drove home though the gathering gloom, meeting the school run traffic as I did so but it wasn't so bad really; I've known it a lot worse.

When I got home, I finished off the CAL project.  I just had a little bit of the edging left to do.  I need to press out around the edges and in a few other places and, fortunately, it is the sort of yarn that is happy with a cool press but I wanted to take a photo for you.  It does look nice, all bright and colourful and, as I am a traditional and go for reds, greens and golds for my decor, it will add to the general colour cacophony really well!

Now I can start Beth's hexi-cardigan with a clear conscience.

And not the day is nearly over and I am starting to wind down and feel a bit sleepy.  It has been another lovely day with so many simple pleasures to enjoy and appreciate.  I am so very fortunate.

I really hope your day has been lovely too.  Good night, everyone.  Sleep well and sweet dreams.  xx

  1. The blanket is beautiful. I had a lovely time at u3a Craft Class this morning where we made a really extravagant card with today’s leader. Then I went to a workshop until 4 30pm and then walked home for the second time today. Got my 10 000 steps in for the first time in ages! Heating on now and soon be bedtime. Catriona

  2. What a gorgeous blanket Joy, is it for yourself? I've not really got into any crochet much so far this season - unusually for me. I do have a couple of WIPs I could get on with if I do feel the urge.... xx

    1. Yes, it's for Christmas. I might have it out in the garden room, perhaps. It would look great out there.
Good luck with the WIPs - I've done a bit of that recently and it's very satisfying. xx

    1. I was so tempted, believe me. But the lovely stuff really wasn't cheap and that did help.
      And thank you. xx

  5. I want too say thank you for showing the crochet along for this blanket some weeks back. It inspired me to buy the kit , and I love it. A bit behind, I’ve just started week five, and aim to complete one block each day. Thank you Joy.

    1. Hi, Joanna. I'm so glad that you're enjoying it so much. It's the first time I've done a CAL but it certainly won't be the last by a long way. I thought the video support was excellent.
If you'd like to, when you've finished, do send me a photo via the email address at the top on the left. xx

    2. I certainly shall do Joy. I’m a little worried that there won’t be sufficient cream yarn, so might have to improvise 😬

    3. If you bought the recommended yarn and amount, there should be enough. I've not got a massive amount left but not so little what I worried but, as long as you get the rounds for each rectangle done, the edging around the whole blanket can be any appropriate colour really.
There's quite a lot left of all the other colours. xx
