That cheers me up no end.
After my mini whinge yesterday (thank you for all your supporting and empathic comments - they are appreciated very much) , we had sunshine. More than just a bit too. It inspired me to take a few shots of the garden - first of 2026, I believe. These are all from the back.
I did something different with Beth's loaves - I used two smaller tins instead of the bigger one and I tried a bake from cold. As you can see, both were a success - what a rise!
I must try the cold bake on the sourdoughs now and perhaps I will make two smaller loaves as well.

Moving on to today and I'm all ready to pop over to Lindsey's for circuits. Being Monday, it is usually housework day but as it's a Kay-day tomorrow, I am going to focus on a good old tidy up. The place is looking a bit cluttered.

It was so sunny here I even worked for half an hour in the garden! It was cheeful to see sun but today it is grey skies again. Never mind, at least it isn't cold. Enjoy your day Joy. Rachel xx

DeleteI have one clump of snowdrops in the side garden which have survived renovations and small boy next door neighbours who insist on climbing the wall and treading through the garden to retrieve their ball! My daughter bought some expensive ones from Lytham Hall a couple of years ago as plants but they disappeared without trace! Catriona

DeleteI am a bit envious of your wall though. I love walled gardens and if I ever get that million on the premium bonds, I will have a wall around my wee garden and really nice gates. At the moment I have half a wall. :-) xx
We don’t seem to have any snowdrops in our new place but they are starting to appear in the lanes which is lovely. Your bread looks amazing.

It is so good to see the new shoots starting to appear, despite all the rain we have been having. It's making me appreciate those times when the sun does pop out for a short time. I have a similar problem with foxgloves; they must love the conditions in our garden as they seed everywhere and I always need to remove some. They do have a wonderful flowr though.

They are a truly beautiful flower, aren't they, and they go on for so long. I found that when I cut down a finished spite, sometimes another one grew. It swill be interesting to see what flowers this year - I will need to be sensible in my ruthlessness!!
