Blogmas, day 13

A very good morning to you this Saturday . . .  yes, Saturday . . .  morning.  I had to think twice about that!

The Advent blanket is coming on.  Yes, the hearts are slightly squiffy but I'm really not fussed.  In the overall brightness and colour, it won't show and if it does - no worries!!  I'm having fun.

All the others are underneath, all on my lovely blocking board.  As some of them would be tricky to actually steam iron, the blocking board is doing a great job.

Today's and tomorrows are baubles!
And here's today's collection.
I realised that I didn't tell you about yesterday's Advent of Change so here we go.

Yesterday's (Day 12) supported Tommy, the pregnancy and baby charity, and it says:
Today you have helped expectant parents to hear the sound of their long awaited baby's heartbeat for the first time.

And today's is for The Rainbow Trust, which supports families with a seriously ill child.
Today you have helped and family afford the transport they need to take a seriously ill child to hospital for vital medical appointments.

The rest is a wee pot of chutney, the candle in a tin, a bath bomb and a rooibos, acai and pomegranate tea bag.  I'm really enjoying these tea bags - tea is great when you have a cold!

Thank you so much for your lovely comments yesterday.  After reading Janice's comment about nine day colds I thought what a good point it was so, sadly, I have pulled out of the RAH carols tomorrow.  It's not just about me infecting others, it's being vulnerable and maybe picking something else up too - and I actually don't feel up to it this morning anyway so am sure it's the right decision.
I am absolutely gutted about it but it is what it is and at least I got to Edinburgh and had a fab time there.  And someone else has my place so I got a full refund.
As I said to Ray and Jan - there's always next year!

Beth and I had a nice online face to face chat yesterday and sorted out who is doing what for Christmas this year.  We had some idea but now we have a proper list and action plan.  Beth's like me - being organised makes her happy!
I just need to complete my shopping list and Bob's your uncle, although I won't do the shop until next week - Christmas week, I mean.

Today - well, I'm not feeling great but plenty of hot drinks, paracetamol-type stuff and Vick help a lot.  I have some cough linctus stuff but am a bit wary because coughing is the body's way of getting gunk out so I have to find a balance really.
The big question is - do I re-watch the Harry Potter films, catch up on Sort Out Your Life or get into some Christmas film DVDs.  Decisions, decisions!!   😉

Have a great Saturday, everyone.  Take care, stay as well as you can and be happy!  xx

And here we are at Day 13's Advent music.  Another Kendrick one, I think, and one I did with my choir in the long distant days when I was the 'Piano Lady' at school!

  1. Glad you are feeling a bit better but I think you are wise to stay away from crowded places. Love the heart squares-so bright on a dull day. Catriona

  2. It's good to get the food organisation out of the way. Middle daughter is coming to us and is making a nut roast, so we are having a meat-free meal, the first time ever we will not have had turkey. Actually, I'm not all that keen on turkey, really . . . 😳
Hope the cold is making its way out of your system. It is a shame about the RAH, but being among crowds when not 100% fit is not a lot of fun., and, as you say, you don't want to risk contracting something else.

    1. It's two handed, isn't it. On one hand, keeping yourself well; on the other, keeping others well as much as you can.
I think it is starting to ease. I got dressed today rather than staying in pjs. It helped. :-) xx

  3. Hello Joy, I am a long term reader and enjoy reading your posts every day. I used to access your slimming world / Mediterranean eating daily diary blog via a link to the left of this blog although it has disappeared recently. Will you bring it back do you think, as whilst I didn't comment I found it really helpful in keeping me inspired to eat more healthily and lose weight. Best wishes Melanie

    1. Hi, Melanie. How lovely to get your comment, thank you very much.
Regarding the other Blog, I have been getting scam stuff regarding it which has been a bit stressful so I have closed it down for now. I may start a new one at some point but for now, given that the viewing numbers are low and, as you say, people don't comment, I felt it wasn't worth the stress - and scams are stressful, no matter how much you know they are fake and try to ignore them.

Really sorry I can't give you a definitive answer right now. Thank you very much for your kind words and I'm glad it helped. xx

    2. Thanks for the explanation Joy, absolutely agree you can't be too careful and the stress takes away the enjoyment. However, you will know from taking a break whether you miss it enough to start afresh! I would read it, and comment if that helps. Best wishes Melanie

    1. Aw, thanks. It should look fun and my sort of seasonal!

I love the Advent of Change too. Such a good idea and, while the little I give won't make that much difference, when you multiply that up, it should. That's why I plug it each year and, hopefully, a few will follow through and start getting it themselves.
Every little helps, as Tesco says!

  6. Oh Joy I will really miss your slimming blog. I loved seeing what you cooked, you are such an inventive cook. I did cook quite a lot of you recipes (so clear to follow). Sorry you were getting problems so completely understand you closing it down. Thank you for all the delicious food you showed us. June xx

    1. That's so kind, thanks, June. As I said to Melanie, I may start a new one, a fresh start, so to speak, and gradually copy my recipes over. In fact, I probably will in the New Year but I'll be more careful and won't advertise an email in the future. I thought it would help - but there you go, that's life.
At least I didn't fall for the scam!

And if/when I do, I will let you know in this blog.
      xx
